First Impressions is a business in the Jackson, MO area that has been in operation since 2007. Hi, I'm Kyle Litchfield, and I am the owner of First Impressions Home Improvement and Painting. I am a lifelong resident of the Cape/ Jackson area and I take great pride in every project I am given the chance to work on. I come from a long construction background and have been in the construction world for most of my life. I am knowledgeable in almost all aspects of construction and in the rare event that I don't have an answer for a customers questions or needs I have a long list of professional connections in the area that I have known for a long time to consult with depending on what the topic area is. I am also a 10 year veteran of the local fire service as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT. I hold State Level Certifications as an EMT-B as well as Firefighter 1 and 2 levels and Hazardous Materials Certifications. I take great pride in keeping my mess as contained as possible while working on a project and I take the safety of not only myself, but also the customer and their family. I specialize in the small stuff. Unlike other businesses, I am proud to say that I do not have a service call or minimum charge for services. I have done work for folks as simple as just changing a couple of door knobs, or fixing that door that gets hard to open and close every now and again. You don't have to have a major project to need a repairman!! If you think your problem is too small for a repairman to care about, think again. Give me a call!!

Customers say: Quality work
60 years of experience

Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We work hard to give a complete estimate, with no hidden charges ( after We begin your job) putting you the customer, at the mercy of your Contractor. We do subcontract help for concrete pours but we do not leave the job until it is complete. Our subs are in place to help with the time element for the job, time is $$$. Our Company will travel and we have no Office hours so that our Customers may call at their convenience.

"This is not a review of the quality of work, but of the level of courtesy and professionalism (or lack of, in this case). The crew parked their truck and other equipment on the street and, when asked politely to move so another truck could get through, they refused. It is a public street, but as it is also trash day, it’s not unreasonable to ask a badly parked truck to be moved. Thiele needs to understand the customer extends beyond the person writing the check. The next door neighbors on either side of this house would have appreciated a heads up about the early morning racket. Also website listed on their truck does not exists ([*** Link removed ***]"

Decorative Concrete questions, answered by experts

Most standard concrete patios are around 4 inches deep. However, concrete patios that need to support very heavy items, like a hot tub or outdoor kitchen, should be around 6 inches thick to support the full weight of these items. You'll also want to make sure you install rebar for patios that need to support a lot of weight like this.

What goes under your floating deck depends on your preferences. Some homeowners put landscaping fabric underneath their decks to prevent weeds from popping up through the boards. Others choose to build a floating deck over grass or gravel. However, it’s best not to set your deck directly on the ground. Instead, set your deck on blocks to keep it elevated enough to prevent moisture from rotting the wood.

Outdoor kitchens get wet and are sometimes next to pools. To avoid accidents, go with a non-slip material like concrete, brick, or rubber. Avoid materials like ceramic and porcelain, as they are known to be quite slippery. Wood and composite flooring can be slippery if untreated, so make sure to stain or finish these materials.

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.

There isn't a winner when comparing expanding foam versus concrete for fence posts. Both have benefits and drawbacks, depending on your budget and priorities. Expanding foam may be a better choice if you want a more eco-friendly solution that cures faster. Concrete is more affordable and durable than expanding foam, yet it is harder to work with and takes longer to cure.
