"I had him come in for a quote before Christmas but we weren't ready until March. He said to pick out colors at Sherwin Williams where he gets a deal. They had a great color selection. He did the family room, living room and hall all in 3 days. They even moved the furniture and cleaned behind it.

"Josh is Amazing! I can't say enough good things about him and his team. If there was a A+ rating, he would get it. He was extremely responsive and considerate of all of our requests, of which there were many. He was so helpful to us as relatively new homeowners to help us decide what work needed to be done, and the best way to do it. He was also very proactive (but not pushy) with suggesting improvements in an efficient order ("Have you considered lighting in this room? It would be best to install lighting before painting", for example). His team was fast and did quality work, and were flexible with our plans as they developed. We are very pleased with how everything turned out. Josh did the best construction cleanup I've ever seen, and even left us a bottle of local wine and nice wine glasses when he was done! We are so lucky we found him. Definitely looking forward to working with Josh and Willow Contracting on more house projects."

"Kyle did an excellent job repairing and replacing the grout and caulk on our screened-in deck. He worked hard and completed his task within a very reasonable timeframe. He charged a reasonable rate and did quality work. We would not hesitate to have him do more work in the future or to recommend him to friends."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

The foundation for a pole barn should be at least 36 inches thick to ensure that the piers won’t shift from frost heave.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

While it’s best to have access to large, healthy, strong trees in a safe position, treehouse living is still possible without them. Contractors can fit tree posts to build the structure onto or use posts as additional support alongside the trees themselves. If you’re in doubt about the suitability of the trees on your land, consult with a local treehouse builder before you start the project.

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.
