"We’re currently mid-construction with Icon and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Communication has been outstanding — they keep us informed at every single step of the build. They use an app that lets us follow along with progress in real time, including photos, so we always know exactly where things stand without having to chase anyone down for updates. It’s been a smooth, transparent process, and that level of visibility has made building a home so much less stressful. Highly recommend Icon to anyone considering a custom build."

"T&K Builders LLC, Terry and his Team were the ultimate professional. What was promised was delivered and more. Terry and his Team explained all the steps being performed. There was no surprise when it came to the invoice. I would hire T&K Builders LLC, Terry and his Team again and again for any of my home improvement projects - large or small."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Shawn and his team made the whole process so easy! They got the most out of my insurance claim and I didn't have to fight with my insurance co. they handled it all. In addition their construction work was beautiful! Have received many compliments from neighbors about quality of work. They were incredible . I left for work in morning and by the time I got home I had a new roof. Not a scrap showing anyone had been there. Same with siding and gutters. Also important to me,if I had questions somebody was always on other side of the phone!"

"Mark has excellently completed many projects in our last two homes, my brothers and father in laws house over the years. The projects have ranged from as small as adding exterior steps to garage reconstruction and whole house remodel. No matter the size he completes them with the precision of a cabinet maker….which he has done for us as well. Every one of the projects gets rave reviews from our friends and neighbors as well adding enrichment of our home and and increase in value. Mark has great vision. Along with his vast construction experience, associate database and hands on approach to these projects he far outperforms many of the local construction firms I see working in the neighborhood. He shows up and works along side his crew vs just showing up to check on their progress. That approach has saved us a lot of rework and dollars when compared with traditional managed construction projects we have been involved in. If we do another project Mark will be my first call"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

A-frame homes are on the smaller side. While there’s no set square footage amount it has to be, it will usually come in around 1,000 square feet or smaller.

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

It pays to hire a project manager or general contractor when you have a large-scale project that will take over a week to complete, especially when it involves structural changes and multiple subcontractors. This includes hiring a general contractor to build a house, add an extension, or manage other projects that need a building permit.

There are energy-efficient options when building a cottage. Select green building materials, high-performance insulation, and energy-efficient windows when designing your cottage. Options such as solar panels, efficient HVAC systems, and LED lighting can lower your utility bills and reduce your environmental impact. Many builders offer energy-efficient upgrades as part of the design process.
