"We were very pleased. Because our cabinets were originally stained, extra work was required to cover over the grain of the wood. Mark was prompt in getting the work done. The work was rather extensive. Mark put in several days worth of work, he was neat. Care was taken not to paint beyond the borders of the cabinets. We are pleased with the results and the 'new' look of our cabinets which we hope will give us years of additional use. Mark was a pleasure to have in our house during the work and tried to do as much as possible off site (our home)."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

If your walls aren’t plumb, it can make installing frameless cabinets difficult because they require precise measurements so they don’t show imperfections. Any dissymmetry with installation can cause the doors and drawers to not function correctly. Frameless cabinets are also thicker and heavier, making them harder to install by yourself.

Yes, most services include finishing options like staining, polishing, or epoxy coatings. Confirm with your provider.

Deciding whether to buy or build a kitchen island depends primarily on two things: your budget and your plans for the island. If you need a working sink or electrical access, you’re safest going with a custom unit. If not, look into a prefabricated unit.

Solid wood is the most common material for cabinet bases. It’s a popular choice because it’s durable and will hold up over time. Oak, maple, cherry, hickory, and pine are all types of solid wood that can be used to build cabinet bases. Other options include plywood, medium-density fiberboard, and other types of manufactured lumber, but they need to be sealed properly to avoid swelling, separating, and delamination from moisture.

Durability and appearance are the two main drawbacks to installing budget kitchen cabinets, which are often made of less-durable wood or plastic. You're also limited to stock options, meaning you may have a small selection from which to choose.

On the plus side, you can always paint these more affordable kitchen cabinets to make them look the way you want.
