"I needed to have the cabinets adjusted to fit more modern appliances, and I also needed to have a storm door replaced. Tom did an excellent job on both occasions. He always communicated in a timely way, He worked well with me on the appliance delivery day to uninstall appliances, and he stayed late to install the appliances which entailed several adjustments. The appliance delivery was late by a month, and he still fit me into his schedule--a man of his word. He did good work and everything looks good and works well. I would certainly hire again."

"Jimâ  s crew was diligent in preparing the home for paint; scraping old pain, caulking of windows and between boards, and repairing or sanding of rotted wood to get to solid wood. Jim did a great job in matching previous paint and the material utilized will last through many hot Summers and cold winters. The paint application with paint sprayers and brushes was executed very well. Jimâ  s got a great crew and worked to get the project completed on time. Jim was available through the entire project and weâ  re happy with the project. Iâ  m sure weâ  ll use Jim and Next Level again and please reach out if you need any help on making a decision on Jimâ  s team"

"

My wife and I have used World Painting several times over the last four years in two different houses.  The most recent project was a complete makeover of the outside of our home.  We consulted with the World Painting staff on the design (two tones) and the proper colors to use.  We are very happy with the outcomes; both the appearance and the quality of workmanship.

"Excellent Work! I know why everyone gives them a top rating. William was great to work with, and the painting crew did a great job. I had a vaulted popcorn ceiling, I thought after 2 coats looked good, but they weren't satisfied and did a third coat! They paint your house as it theirs. I look forward to working with them again on a kitchen project. Look no further, and hire CU MIDWEST DESIGNS."

"We're working on fixing things around our house to prepare for selling our home. I reached out to Edgar for help, and he was responsive to my email and texts. He was friendly and personable. When a couple of the jobs ended up being more complicated than we'd thought, he spent extra time figuring out the problems to fix them, and didn't charge us extra for those issues He came back again another night to complete the fixes."

Home Building FAQs, answered by experts

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.

Remodeling a house is often less expensive than building a new house. You can expect to pay an average of $100 per square foot when you are remodeling. The cost to build a house averages about $150 per square foot. When remodeling, though, some rooms cost more than $100 per square foot and some cost less. Use a home renovation cost estimator to accurately estimate your remodeling costs.

Historically, Tudor homes originally stemmed from the 15th and 16th centuries, while Victorians appeared during Queen Victoria's reign in the 19th century. The design and structural differences are significant as well. The many types of Victorian architecture—such as Italianate architecture—typically feature ornate trim, wood siding, wraparound porches, and tall towers on top, such as belvederes. On the other hand, Tudor-style homes feature white stucco exteriors with exposed wooden rafters marking the house frame both inside and out.

Yes, a home builder or contractor should have the proper licensing and insurance. Licensing requirements vary by state and municipality, but most states mandate that a builder holds at least a general contractor’s license. For specialized work such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, or sewage systems, individual licenses may be required, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to review your local guidelines and confirm a builder's credentials. As you browse professionals, you can also look for the “Angi Certified” badge. This indicates the business meets our certification standards, which include passing a criminal background check, holding applicable state and local licenses, and maintaining an average rating of 3.0 or better.

Local regulations dictate how big an ADU can be, and there may also be restrictions on the percentage of the main residence’s square footage an ADU can have. In most cases, an ADU must be smaller than the main residence, but check with your local building authority to confirm restrictions on ADU size.
