I got vague blurb of the problem and my mom saying he said he broke something on the unit!? Took 3 days and me calling office twice before tech finally called me! And NOWHERE on the paperwork does it state that HE caused more damage to the unit than the original problem!"

It depends on the type of surface, but if you’re preparing to pressure wash a driveway, you’ll start by using a broom or leaf blower to get rid of dirt, leaves, and other debris. Then, move any nearby items (like outdoor furniture and potted plants) and cover in-ground plants with a tarp or plastic sheet. After that, you can apply degreaser spray or another pretreatment solution to any stains and scrub them with a stiff brush before pressure washing.

A pressure washer’s size or power is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI). The amount of pressure you need will depend on your project and the material you’re washing, but consumer pressure washers range from 500 to 2,400 PSI. Porous materials like brick and stucco should not be blasted with anything stronger than 1,000 PSI, while you can use a PSI of up to 2,400 to clean a vinyl fence.

The difference between pressure washing and power washing is the temperature of the water. With pressure washing, cool water from an outdoor spigot supplies water to the pressure washing machine. With a power washer, the cool water is heated inside the machine, which has a heating coil. The power washer sends out heated, pressurized water for a deeper clean.

Whether or not you need to winterize your pressure washer will largely depend on where you’re able to store it. For example, if you have somewhere relatively warm to keep it, you won’t need to fill the water pump with antifreeze because there will be no risk of freezing in the first place. However, emptying the gas chamber and refreshing the oil is good to do beforehand, regardless of what storage conditions are available to you.

A good PSI for a pressure washer will depend on the job you're doing. Pressure washer PSI ratings range from 1,300 to 4,200 PSI. Lower PSI is suitable for cleaning dirt and debris off of softer materials. Use a low PSI when pressure washing vinyl siding , wood, or stucco. A heavy-duty job like cleaning graffiti off of concrete or brick will require at least 2,000 PSI.
