The repair work on the toilet malfunctioned and I informed them. They were going to come out and do the work that day if time or following week. Which, with the work you did and it is leaking I accepted the potential delay in service. Offered me a "service" call not a fix the work that was done call but hey, it's whatever I'd rather get things done they debate. 20 minutes later I was informed they can't do the work, due to the "area" and can no longer do any work for me ?.? If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

Anywhere from 18 inches to 8 feet deep. Your depth depends on soil and weather conditions in your area. If you live in a colder region, your lines are likely to be deeper than the lines of those living in warmer regions. Contact your local sanitation department or wastewater control board to get the plans for your system and find out for sure how deep your sewer lines are buried.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

It can take anywhere from half an hour to a few hours to fix a main line clog, depending on the cause and severity of it. The job should not take more than a day to complete. Keep in mind that the main line is not the same as your home’s sewer lines (which connect to the main line and run to your house). Your city is responsible for any clogs or damage to the main line itself.

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.
