Sutton Roofing & Siding was started in 1946 by Edsel & Mayme Sutton in Springfield Illinois. Edsel sold the work and Mayme ran the business. They had an installer and focused solely on Roofing and Siding. In those days, there were only a handful of colors to offer customers. The Sutton’s prided themselves on using the highest quality materials and installation available. Then, they put their name on it and offered a guarantee. A handful of the projects they did in those early days can still be seen on homes in the older areas of Springfield today. In the late 1970's, Douglas Sutton moved back to Springfield and took over the family business for his parents, Edsel and Mayme. He changed the name to reflect the expanded remodeling services. The new name was Sutton Siding & Remodeling, Inc. A marketing partner of Doug's was responsible for one of the most successful marketing campaigns in Springfield. Sutton Siding & Remodeling adopted the slogan, ""You call us, we don't call you."" That is because some key competitors at the time were dialing for dollars every evening and on weekends bothering people for appointments. The slogan worked and separated Sutton's from the vultures lurking on the phone. People still refer to that slogan today and refer to Sutton’s as simply “Sutton Siding.” Fast forward to 1995 and Douglas Sutton Jr, along with his brother Michael Sutton, took over the family business. Eventually, the duo decided to change the name to simply ""Sutton's."" The pair added a property restoration division and is recognizing a need in the marketplace to help customers after a fire or storm damage. Together, the brothers still operate the business in partnership and work in the business every day in the same office on Peoria Road on Springfield’s north side. Sutton’s has three distinct divisions. They are Exteriors, Remodeling, and Service. Sutton’s started as a Roofing and Siding company and is still the largest Roofing & Siding Company in central Illinois.

"As senior citizens, it’s hard to get things done that in years past we were capable of doing ourselves. Climbing ladders to hammer Loose facia, fixing a window that was cracked, fixing a screen in a storm door thats on s roller(used to just pop the screen in and out). Little things mean a lot to keep your home updated and looking good. Curb appeal makes a difference. That being said we want to give a big five star rating to Sutton’s for being there to get all this things done for us. We are so happy with the job they did. Everything looks great. Love our new screen door, is so nice to not have duct tape holding the screen together. We can’t thank you enough. Great service from a great company. Shout out to Adam and all the other workers, job well done."

Concrete Ink originated in 2011 with a vision of providing concrete flooring solutions for residential customers. We began our foray into the decorative concrete flooring business with the coloring (acid staining), and polishing of existing residential concrete basement floors. Creating an artful finished floor solution out of the existing 4″ thick concrete substrate proved to be a perfect marriage of utility and beauty. Since that time, we have been installing, training and broadening our scope of efforts to include retail, commercial and industrial flooring solutions for our clients. The positive feedback and increased demand for our residential work validated our original premise, and opened our eyes to the infinite creative possibilities within our industry. Over the years, we have focused on honing our skills by seeking out and training with the best instructors and installers in our industry. Our continued commitment to expanding our knowledge has sent us to California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah. Our client base now reaches across the United States, and we are proud of our reputation and results. We look forward to working with you soon! Contact us today for a FREE estimate

In business since 1976 and locally-owned with seven professional and industry-certified employees. Owner is a charter member of the National Wood Flooring Association and currently serves on several committees. Participates in the SAHBA Home Show and Springfield's Adopt-a-Street program. 2014 NWFA "Wood Floor of the Year" winner in the restoration category.

"BUYER BEWARE! This review may be long, but it's worth the read if you don't want to waste $$$Thousands of Dollars only to be left with a mediocre floor!!! Don't let the 5-Stars fool you. Although the workers were quite pleasant and did a good job, the manager and owner is unreliable, rude and definitely not trustworthy. He'll tell you one thing in person, and then wriggle his way out of any verbal commitment he made with you. And that's only if he bothers to call you back! The job they did on our floors was ok but we had to have our walls repainted because of the marks and scratched the crew made with their equipment. And there were several areas that I had to point out to them that were definitely NOT satisfactory...including an area in the upstairs hallway where the topcoat was applied quite poorly. So, why am I pointing out areas to the professionals? Can they not see them for themselves? We were not aware until after the job was started that one of the workers was being trained. Now maybe it's just me but if I'm paying for a professional job to be done in my home...I want professionals doing it. My home is not a training ground where "newbies" can learn from their mistakes. They had to return to "re-refinish" these areas...which are still only satisfactory...not professional. We asked for an estimate on having our stairs rebuilt during the floor refinishing job his crew was currently doing for us in April. He gave an estimate and said it would be around July that the stairs could be done. I agreed to give the downpayment when we paid him for the floor job since it had not yet been completed. I asked if we could be considered for an earlier time if his schedule allowed and he said he would see what he could do. We waited until the middle of July and heard nothing back. After several months of our emails and phone calls NOT being returned, I was finally able to reach him to ask about the timeline for the stairs. HE TOLD ME OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER!!! He said he never put it on the schedule because we had not yet paid for the floor job and had not given him a downpayment for the stairs which I told him would be paid when the floor was finished. We had not paid him for the floor yet because the floor had STILL not been completed...and this was now JULY!! The crew had sanded into one of our existing floor reducers which had to be replaced (at their expense) and the rest of the floor had areas that needed touching up which was not completed until JULY (the job was started in April)! SO...DON'T ACCEPT ANY VERBAL AGREEMENT FROM RALPH. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING OR YOU'LL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED AND PLAYED LIKE A FOOL...WE WERE!!!"

Few home upgrades add resale value above their installation cost, including terrazzo floors. However, they are still a good option if you like the look. While terrazzo may be expensive, it has a solid return on investment of around 55% to 70%. The durability and low maintenance requirements of terrazzo can be appealing selling points, as many buyers will appreciate flooring that can last 40 to 100 years.

There are many benefits to hiring a professional floor cleaner. First, these flooring pros know the right chemicals for your flooring type, which is essential for its longevity. Likewise, they have the proper deep-cleaning equipment, which is often more complex than a mop or broom. Not only that, but deep cleaning your floors can be a time-consuming process, and by hiring a professional, you can spend that time on other home improvement projects.

Plywood is the best type of subfloor for a mobile home, though if you’re installing flooring in a bathroom, you may want to install a vapor barrier or use a moisture-proof subfloor material like Amdry. OBS is similar, but it can swell when moisture is present.

Either way, old mobile home subflooring made from particleboard can cause issues with your joints. If you’re replacing your subfloor, it’s best to upgrade to plywood.

There are a few different types of finishes to choose from for the final step of the project.

Water-based polyurethane sealants emit fewer odors and fumes but dry quickly, which can pose a challenge when trying to get a smooth coat. Oil-based polyurethane sealants let out more odors and fumes into the air (it’s especially important to wear a respirator if you choose this type), but they take longer to dry, which can be more forgiving during the finishing step.

Some may prefer wood oil to polyurethane because rather than creating a layer, it becomes part of the wood. Wood oil takes longer to dry, and is less resistant to wear and tear; however, it creates a natural-looking result by enhancing the grain of the wood.

Most cities accept old carpet as bulk trash, typically without any nails or glue on the base of the carpet. You may be required to request a specific pickup and wrap the carpet into specific bags. You can also visit your local recycling center and pay a small fee to have the carpet materials recovered.
