Small jobs welcome

"Overall was good for what the service is. The technician was a postal worker and home inspector. So mold test company appears to be brokers. Their pricing was competitive from other quotes I received but I honestly think it was pricey for time spent and what they do. But like I said the price was pretty standard from the companies I called, in my opinion. But the technician was attentive and knowledgeable, and friendly."

"Great company to deal with, from the first phone call to the cleanup after the job. Honest, professional, on time, great work and a decent price. I could not find anyone within 50+ miles to do the entire job I needed (which involved mold remediation, paint scraping, joint repair, and water resistant sealing). I will probably use them again for other services."

"Very good and he also advised me that some dry wall had mold on it and he removed that free of charge. I would recommend this person to anyone that needs his service. I also like the fact that it is family owned and he is training his boys to follow him and learn the trade."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

The purpose of crawl space encapsulation is to prevent mold by blocking moisture and reducing humidity. If the vapor barrier is properly installed, it significantly reduces the chance of mold developing within the crawl space. However, mold can sometimes grow behind the encapsulation material, but it will be sealed away from the main area. Additionally, moisture can still condense inside the encapsulated space, so if you notice excess humidity, installing a dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Signs of mold sickness often manifest as respiratory issues, including coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and sneezing. You might also experience symptoms that resemble allergies, such as itchy eyes and sinus infections. Other telltale signs include skin irritations, persistent and unexplainable headaches, and mental confusion, often described as 'brain fog.' It's important to remember that mold can cause health problems even if it's not visible, as it can grow inside walls. If you are experiencing these unexplained symptoms, you may want to consider a professional mold inspection.

Both mildew and mold come from fungi. One of the main differences is that mildew’s texture is dry and powdery, whereas mold is fuzzy and slimy. In addition, mildew isn’t very thick, while mold looks three-dimensional. Also, mildew is typically light in color, whereas mold comes in various shades, including green and black.

You can do more with a home test kit than just check your water’s hardness. There are a few types of tests. The first one is simple and involves a strip that checks your water’s pH balance. The second and more thorough option is a master test kit, which shows your pH plus the presence of nitrite, ammonia, and other elements through color shades. Unsurprisingly, the most thorough test is one you send to a proper lab for analysis

Iron sediments from rusty pipes are not likely to cause health problems. While a glass of yellow-hued water is off-putting, it is generally safe to drink yellow water in the short term. But you certainly want to address this problem. In the meantime, switching to bottled water until the yellow water issue is resolved is a good idea.
