"We had a very large tree that needed to be removed in our backyard with very tight excess to it. Deven and the crew did a great job, no, they did an excellent job. From cutting down the tree to removal of all the limbs and grinding out the two stumps it was done very professionally. This company does and follows thru with everything they promise to do. We are so happy with the respectful way they treated us and our property. I would highly recommend this company. They are Great!"

"Quite reasonable in their pricing. They have a lot of irons in the fire so don't always get to you as fast as they state they can. Do their best to please you with their work"

"Brandon and his crew did a fantastic job! They were here on time and cut down 10 trees total which included a large walnut tree. They did just as we asked them to do. Their cleanup is truly amazing! I highly recommend them! Thank you."

"Wonderful ! I searched Angi for companies/individuals who met their criteria for excellence. After reviewing all of the prospective candidates; I decided to go with James Haney’s tree service. My overall satisfaction rating exceeds “Outstanding”. I was called by thowner to clarify my job requests, and schedule a day/time which best fit my schedule. On the day of the job, I was notified by phone of their arrival time. Then I was provided with an update within 30minutes of their (3 men) arrival. They were prompt and polite. After a brief introduction, and clarification of the tree trimming and removal requests, along with bushes that needed extensive trimming;; the team immediately got to work. During their work, I indicated other trimming/removal requests; which were pleasantly accepted. An added price above what the original estimate/cost was explained to me. I accepted these new project costs. Without writing a contract; I wrote another check to cover these new costs; just like I did for the original job. Being overwhelmed with everyone’s professionalism, being utterly amazed; it really “Blew my Mind !” This was an EXPression from the 60’s, that was not drug related. Their trailer was full, and they took the limbs, branches and debris away. Unexpectedly, while I was inside of my home; I heard a chainsaw on the side of my home. I thought that it was my neighbor. I walked out the front door. Instead of seeing my neighbor it was the crew from James’ tree service; already hard at work. After much more progress on my related tree removal jobs, they took a lunch break. Well deserved ! When the team returned; they continued to be very professional in their duties; confirming my satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their works. Even though I witnessed outstanding work during the morning; I remained absolutely Being amazed at the high quality work that was continuing. Although I wan’t asked to rate the quality of the job completion; I would rate their work reliability and quality as an 11 using a 0 - 10 scale."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

Ideally, you’ll have a good enough relationship with your neighbors that you can kindly mention this task in regular conversation. However, every neighbor (and neighborhood) is different. Your best bet will always be to ask directly and nicely, offering to contribute to the tree trimming efforts if you’d like. However, if you are bothered by the tree and your neighbor is unwilling to cut it, you can involve the help of the homeowners’ association or local authorities, if applicable.

Trimming a tree can take anywhere from just two hours to a full day, depending on the age of the tree, the number of trees, and the species. Young trees are generally easier to trim, as their branches are often thinner in diameter and easier to reach compared to mature trees. They also tend to be healthier. If you haven’t trimmed your trees before or it’s been a while, the process could take even longer.

You’ll want to have your palm trees trimmed during the spring, ideally in May, before hurricane season sets in, which generally takes place during the late summer. Palm trees grow fastest over the summer months. You’ll also want to trim your palm trees when you notice:

  • Brown fronds

  • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard

  • Visible damage from a storm

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.
