"I had a great experience. My ceiling fan installation went very well. Everything was done quickly, efficiently and with no problems at all. He even helped me change the frequency on our other fan so it would not interfere. We are very happy with Volt and highly recommend."

"Josh called immediately, set up the appointment for a couple days later, showed up on time, did the job professionally and for a fair price. The job actually consisted of replacing one ceiling fan/light in the living room (vaulted ceiling) and one light in the staircase, and then he came to the office to look at a problem involving four lights and found and repaired the problem within minutes."

"I did the $199 deal for 6 hours but my project for JSC was pretty big so he had to add additional
labor, plus materials.  Jonathan came to see me a week before doing the job to measure and talk with me about
exactly what I wanted done.  When I purchased my new home I did not  realize it had no linen closet so I went right to my
favorite people to see if they could help me.  Great behold the Handyman Special.  I asked JSC to put the linen closet in my laundry
room as there was already some shelving there.  JSC split the area in half and installed 3 shelves with doors to create a linen closet.  For the finishing touch he painted the closet to match the shelving already there.  Beautiful!!
Next he organized my garage by hanging my bicycle from the ceiling, ladders on the wall along with the garden tools.  He also
painted the backboards to match.
Lastly he installed a grab bar near the toilet in the master bathroom.  JSC made sure when purchasing materials that things
matched.  I would recommend this company to my family and friends."

"Sean does a great job. He has helped me on numerous projects, including installing outlets and switches, programming smart Lutron switches, installing ceiling fans, installing 12 and 24 volt tape lighting, installing outdoor outlets in my yard, etc. He is very knowledgeable, works efficiently, has reasonable prices, and is honest and fair. As a solo electrician, his charges are far less than what you would expect from a larger company. I could not recommend an electrician more highly than Sean."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.
