"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"My job was only to clean and re-caulk existing gutters. They were here when they said they would be, confirmed what I wanted done with me and went right to work. Price was reasonable and exactly as estimated. I will use them for any future gutter work."

"Charles was thorough with explaining my roofing needs and the process that took place. The job started much sooner than I had anticipated which caused me some minor issues but in the end Charles was satisfied and so was I. The workers were very fast, clean and polite. Work started at 0600 on a Monday and they were finished by noon Friday. My roof will undoubtedly last another 25 years and it will look good doing so. I highly recommend Charles and his crew."

"They were great. Did a terrific job and were willing to do whatever I needed done. Even got the stuck lid off my fav cup. My deck looks so good with all the leaves and pine needles gone as does my yard. What a relief to get them gone and all cleaned up. Great humans also."

Small jobs welcome

"We had our wood stove area in our home done. When we requested a quote, we received a call promptly. I appreciated the friendly communication from start to finish and the price was very reasonable. The whole crew who came out had a great work ethic and the quality of work was "beyond" what my husband and I expected, My husband and I are so glad we chose Milestone Masonry and would definitely hire them again in the future! Love the work they did and just a great job from start to finish, I also really appreciated how respectful they are cleaning up and wiping everything down. Thank You!!"

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Water overflow, foundation damage, and mold growth are risks.

Yes, there are several downsides to installing rain chains. For one, rain chains have a lower flow capacity than a typical gutter and downspout system. This means that if there is a rainstorm, the rain chain can stop working completely. Rain chains also cannot redirect rainwater away from your house. In homes with a sloped yard, this could cause water damage in your foundation or basement.

Absolutely—and lots of it. Overflowing water from your gutters can damage your siding and your roof. All of the moisture getting into the cracks and crevices of your home can lead to mold or mildew problems down the line. In addition, when water pools around your home, it needs a place to go—and sometimes it ends up inside the house, creating a very unwanted flood.

Yes, you can use a pressure washer to effectively clean debris, dirt, and grime from your gutters, but it must be done with caution to avoid damage. Always use a low-pressure setting, with a recommended range between 1,200 and 1,800 PSI. Excessive pressure can bend or dent aluminum gutters, damage seams, peel paint, or even knock shingles off your roof, potentially leading to leaks and moisture issues. For a safer alternative, consider soft washing or cleaning them by hand. When using a pressure washer, it is safer to use gutter elbow extensions from the ground rather than climbing a ladder, as the force can cause instability. Due to the risks, you may want to hire a licensed and insured contractor for the job.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.
