"We’ve had a lot of crews in our home for various projects over the years, and I have to say this was one of the most courteous. They worked hard, navigating through our kitchen to access the basement and I really appreciated their efforts. Thank you MTU, we now have safe walls in our cellar and fresh beams to keep the house standing ;)"

"After a little glitch, my husband called Dabella and Dustin reached out to us, he went above and beyond to help us get a new roof. He was professional and kind helped us get the best financing and got our roof installed before the snow started flying. We had a new roof and gutters installed. Everything looks awesome. Thank you Dustin"

"I was very happy with the work completed by ABBA concrete. The owner Felipe was very courteous on the phone and his son Nick was very professional as he detailed everything that was to be done giving me the best price. The job was done quickly and efficiently and included removal of old crumbling curb, replacing it with brand new curbing all around existing pathways and garden spaces. I just love the new curbing, and I plan on putting in decorative landscaping rock and pea gravel in the spring. I will be sending pictures at that time to add to this review. I highly recommend this company. They do not disappoint."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The premise for painting a brick building is fairly simple: Prime the bricks to seal the surface and apply the top coat to protect your brick home. However, it’s easy to miss a few important steps if you’re starting from a raw brick surface and don’t know the basics of how to paint brick. So be sure to reach out to a local professional painter if you have any reservations about correctly painting your brick house.

You can use adhesive strips to hang lights on brick—just make sure you get outdoor mounting tape and not just any old double-sided tape for your project.

Yes, depending on the type of pavers you have, you may need a specific type of sealant. For example, concrete pavers will bond differently than clay pavers or faux stone pavers and will demand a different type of sealer. If you’re unsure of the material and what type of sealant you need, you can contact the company that laid your pavers down for you.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

Discoloration ondifferent types of brick can range from harmless to red flag. For example, efflorescence that is caused by a buildup of water-soluble white salt is considered harmless. However, green or greenish-yellow stains are caused by salts that are harmful to brick. Staining can also be caused by rust, corrosion, lime run, soot, algae, or moss.
