"Scott and Josh took a concrete room and turned it into a beautiful basement. They also refinished and added new hardwood floors on the main floors and on the stairs. They were very professional and kept me informed of the status. They cleaned up every night and as they made progress. They treated my home like it was their home. The basement, especially the new bath, is very beautiful; and they added several convenient features. I would and have recommended them to family and friends."

"Hatch Flooring did a FANTASTIC job, replacing an old tub with a tile shower with natural rock floor, as well as rock walls around the toilet, and splashback in the bathroom as well as kitchen. Ammon was great to work with on getting everything lined up, and Jared did an AMAZING job with the tile and rock, accommodating some unusual requests of ours of having natural rock edges. I would recommend Hatch Flooring to anyone. (Two years ago, we also had them carpet the entire house and tile a hearth around our woodstove - a great job on those projects, too!)"

"These guys were fantastic! Ours was no easy project. They showed up when they were scheduled, helped prepare the space, and left the finished project clean (no dust no scraps no mess)! They asked our preferences. They even came back and fixed seams that had settled (no fault of theirs) and made sure we were happy with the finished project. They totally went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them for your flooring needs!!!"

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

To prepare for a land survey, you must thoroughly check your land surveyor’s qualifications, reviews, and fees to align with your expectations. When it is time for the survey to be conducted, ensure that you have all your documents organized and available, know and mark your property lines, and inform your neighbors that the survey is happening.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
