"Working with Equity Builders is always wonderful. Everything always goes smooth. Very Very HAPPY with the work done. We are repeat customers. Michael and his team are great people to have in your home. Our family felt very comfortable with him and his employees. Also felt comfortable to leave and run errands or be gone for the day. They always leave the working area cleaner then when they found it."

"Donavan did an outstanding job on our basement remodel. Took an open concrete room and turned it into our favorite place to spend time in our home. Everything he does you can see how much effort is put into perfection of even the smallest details. Rest assured, we will hire Affordable Remodels again for our next home upgrade whatever that may be!"

"We love Scott. He has done work for us four different times. We have an older home that periodically needs something tweaked, fixed, or replaced. Scott has replaced a large second floor bow window for us, installed counter tops and cabinets, he built us a beautiful fireplace mante, built a wall in our garage,l and repaired our leaky chimney. We have not found anything that he canâ t do...yet! He is always professional and a true gentleman. He is good at calling, texting, and emailing us to keep us informed about when he will be here. He is a wise steward of our money...and tries very hard to stay within our budget. On the other hand he does things right. Which I really like. He wants to do things well and in a method that will be strong and will stand up through time and weather. I feel that our home is in good hands with Huntsman Builders. We plan on hiring them again for other projects. We give Scott and the Huntsman Building team our highest recommendation."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Drawing your own floor plans is acceptable for many kinds of projects, including interior design and room layout. You can use floor plan software to create the plans but keep in mind that the floor plan will only be as accurate as the measurements you take and enter into the software.

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

Universal design is a design concept that states that products, spaces, and general environments are designed to be used by everyone, with an emphasis on accessibility for those with limited mobility or other special needs.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

How long it takes to build an in-law suite will vary by type. The time it takes to build an addition will typically be less than for completely new construction. Expect to spend about two months if you convert a basement, attic, or other existing room in your home. New structures can take up to five months, plus up to two months to receive the required permits.
