"Well. 1st plumber who looked at the system said shower valves needed to be replaced but that was a problem because there are no access panels. External pressure on the basement wall can cause it to bow inward. Soil, heavy with water saturation, is commonly the main culprit. The soil exerts immense pressure on the wall, causing it to fail, at least partially. This is known as hydrostatic pressure—these situations can occur after rainfall or simply due to regular groundwater presence and may be temporary or more permanent.  

If there is standing liquid on your concrete, remove it before attempting any of the above cleaning methods. For small amounts of water, use rags, a bucket, and a mop. For larger areas of liquid, lay down cat litter or baking soda to soak up the water first. If you have extremely large pools of water sitting on your concrete, break out the wet vac and get to work.

There are a few downsides to a wet room, the most important of which is the risk of mold growth from the moisture and humidity. Standard bathrooms can have the same issue, but wet rooms are more likely to experience problems because water is less carefully contained. You also have less privacy since the entire bathroom is open, and the room must include waterproofing, which makes wet rooms more expensive to install than regular bathrooms.

It is better to have a crawl space that is tailored to the outside temperature, your needs, and the season. For example, it is much better to have a vented space when it’s very hot outside and your AC bills are sky-high. Conversely, when the temperature drops and humidity rises, it is almost always better to have your vents shut and covered if possible.
