"I hired only one electric to fix or finish my solar system that I bought from another company and found out that it was a mess and it was all screwed up they put on the stuff that I did not buy it was a cheaper version of what I bought but only one electric came in and saw the problems I had to take everything apart that the other company did and give me the things that I purchased in the first place I feel they did a very good job and what they had to work with and replace and fix everything the other company had screwed up and I donâ t think I wouldâ ve ever got it up and running with the other company if it hadnâ t been for Only one electric"

"They were fast, competitively priced and professional.  Even left the place clean--no debris sitting around.  They're the only people I'd call for heating or A/C work.  Mark (owner) stopped by to make sure everything was going OK during installation.  He even called me Friday night to discuss options and prices (9:30 pm!).

"We've been with them for 12 years. It's just inconvenient when you have somebody come out and they don't do it correctly and in the hottest part of the summer you have to go a week without air conditioning. That was uncomfortable. I had to call them again about my dishwasher. The same guy has come out four times and has had to order the parts and every time they've put in a new electronic panel. I just find it hard to believe that a dishwasher that's about 10 years old needs four electronic panels put in it. I'm paying $75 each time. I'm hoping this time they will allow me to just go get a new one. It never works completely because it doesn't ever dry dishes. It's just an ongoing issue. You have wait for a while when they order parts. It costs $75 per visit. I've had him out here five times already for my dishwasher. That's almost enough to buy a new dishwasher."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Learn about common solar blockers in your area to determine how often you should wash solar panels and the best cleaning method:

  • Soot: If you have a fireplace, soot can disperse and accumulate on the solar panels.

  • Debris, dirt, and leaves: These natural elements require light cleaning. Being close to trees or living in a desert area can cause more of these to accumulate.

  • Pollen: Areas with a high pollen count require more frequent solar panel cleaning, and sticky plant material requires a deeper cleaning.

  • Bird droppings: Bird droppings are binding and more difficult to remove. Keep this in mind if you live near a lot of surrounding trees.

Yes, you have to get on the roof to cut a hole for solar tubing. It's not possible to complete the job from inside your house by simply cutting through the ceiling. So if you want to go the DIY route, remember to use safe ladder practices. If you’re not comfortable climbing on your roof to install solar tubes, hire a pro who has the tools and expertise to do the job safely.

Solar well pumps range from needing 200 watts of power to as much as 12,000 watts for heavy-duty pumps. Since the most common and cost-friendly solar panels are 100-watt panels, you’ll need between two and 12 panels. The average is between two and eight panels for standard pumps. Based on the average cost of solar panels ($1 to $1.50 per watt), you’d pay between $200 and $1,800 for your well pump solar panels—not including installation.

A few disadvantages of installing solar panels on your roof include the high up-front costs and the potential for increased property taxes. Installing solar panels can increase the home’s value, which in turn can mean higher taxes. Depending on your area, you should check with your local tax offices for more information. Another potential pitfall is roof leaks from a poor installation, but this shouldn’t be an issue if you hire a reputable company.

You can install solar panels on a metal roof, but it will require some additional thought and care versus a traditional asphalt shingle roof. That’s because heat dissipates off a metal roof differently than asphalt or wood, so you may need to space the panels further from the roof. However, a pro can help you with the details and provide a safe and effective installation.
