"Legacy replaced nine windows in our 100+ year old home. Sales with Duane was low pressure and we found the prices and services were at a reasonable cost. Nick and the installation crew were friendly, professional and very respectful of the homeowners. The replacement windows were installed timely and professionally and look AMAZING! We are very pleased with Legacy Home Improvements and love the new look!"

"It went well.  The toilet had to be removed because it was too close to the tub.  This cost an additional $50.  I'm glad I have another bathroom!  I will have to put the toilet back in the bathroom this week-end since the room remains sealed and un-useable for at least 24 hours after the re-surfacing.
I received complete instructions for removing the plastic sheeting and tape used to seal the bathroom.  I will need to caulk around the tub when the tape is removed (I was told about this when I set up the appointment).
One suggestion I have for this company is that they email a list of what to expect and how to prepare the room for the re-surfacing.  Had I known the toilet needed to be removed, I could have done it myself.  I was surprised the room needed to be "sealed" for at least 24 hours.  I had no idea of the tasks necessary to return the bathroom to normal use.
The tub is beautiful!

Update:  6/14/2012       Removing the taped off areas around the tub wasn't difficult, but attention to detail using a razor blade with intense.  Putting the toilet back was  complicated by the fact that I needed to remove a bit of water from the tanks.  I decided to replace the tank kit.... the directions provided on the box were not sufficient to do the job correctly.  I went to www.onesmartgirl.com for complete and easy-to-understand directions.  Now I need to caulk around the tub.  Then the job will be complete.  I am a do-it-yourselfer, and I don't consider this any easy completion for someone who isn't handy around the house."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

In some cases, people are getting rid of bathtubs because of the floor space they gain after removal. Showers can make more efficient use of bathroom space. In some cases, people get rid of tubs for accessibility purposes. It can be difficult for some individuals to step into and out of a tub. For these people, a shower with no lip or step is safer and easier to use than a tub.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

You should consider replacing your bathtub if the tub—or any potential refinishing—is older than about 20 years old. However, acrylic and fiberglass bathtubs have a shorter lifespan (about 10 to 15 years). You may decide to replace your bathtub sooner if there are stains or mold you can’t get rid of, no matter how much you clean it, or if you find leaks and cracks that could lead to costly water damage.

Installing a walk-in bathtub can be worth it if it improves the user's safety and independence. However, because walk-in tubs require a large investment, not every homeowner has the means or desire to install one. As an alternative, some homeowners prefer to install a walk-in shower and transfer bench instead. Walk-in showers cost between $1,150 and $8,000, making them far more budget-friendly in comparison.

If your bathtub is in overall good shape with minor scratches, discoloration, or just general wear and tear, it's best (and less expensive) to refinish it.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.
