Customers say: Quality work

"Even though there was about a year between the estimate and us saving the money to pay for it, the price for the driveway/sidewalks remained the same. A hard worker who did a great job and dealt with my questions promptly and to my satisfaction. Would certainly recommend him and use his services again if the need arose."

"We had a concrete slab poured for a 8’x12’ shed. Al was very responsive and they were able to get the job done quickly, which was very nice since we had a target date to complete our project. Very fair price and they did all the dirt backfill and leveling. I came home from work and Al was even sweeping our driveway! Great work and I’d highly recommend them."

Concrete Finishing questions, answered by experts

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.

A concrete overlay on an existing slab can range from 1/4 of an inch to 2 inches thick, though a minimum of 2 inches is often recommended to ensure stability and quality. The ideal thickness depends on the condition of the existing concrete and the depth of any planned designs or imprints. Before applying the overlay, it's important to repair and clean the surface, then apply a primer. For specialized work like a stamped concrete overlay, hiring an experienced contractor is recommended to determine the correct thickness and ensure the new layer isn't too high or heavy. For context, most standard concrete slabs are between 4 and 6 inches thick.

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.

Investing in stained and sealed concrete can be worthwhile and may catch the eye of potential homebuyers during resale. The look is sleek and modern, allowing new buyers to envision a versatile list of home decor options. Stained concrete floors are also easy to maintain and feature a custom look that stands out compared to gray, unsealed concrete surfaces.

Stamped concrete can be slippery when wet, but certain stamp designs and types of sealers can reduce slip and add traction. When installing stamped concrete in areas that often get wet, take care to choose a pattern and sealer that’s designed to prevent the surface from becoming too slippery.
