We were told it would be about 2 weeks until work would start (their website says that normal turnaround is 2 weeks as well). The contracts said 6-8 weeks, just to cover their butts. However, they didn't start on our roof until right about 8 weeks, and the siding/gutters didn't get started until 10 weeks. We had wanted to get the projects done ASAP, and they knew that, as we wanted to put our house on the market early in the summer. Well, that obviously couldn't happen. They were terrible at communicating when things would get done. I called frequently to find out dates, etc., usually to receive no call back. On the day our siding installation was supposed to start, no one showed up. I arranged my schedule to be home all that day, only to find out they wouldn't be able to start until 2 days later. The roofing process was fine, as that's a pretty simple job, hard to mess up. But the siding was a disaster. Superior's website clearly states that "We also work hard to keep the job site clean and orderly throughout the working process," which was SO not the case. No one threw anything away until the end of the job. My doors were often blocked with garbage from the job. They were kind enough to sweep my steps at the end of each day, but that's about it. When the foam insulation board was going up, I stood shocked at my kitchen window watching the workers play nail darts on the side of my house. Such professionalism... On the last day of siding work, I left the house for a bit, only to come back to find one of the workers walking out of my house. He had no permission to be in the house, and you can imagine how scary that felt. I was unable to get a clear answer out of anyone as to why he was in there (the crews never spoke English well enough to communicate with me), and he left nails all over the floor inside for my 1 year old to discover. When the crew left and my husband and I took a look around the outside of the house, we noticed a lot of poor quality workmanship, especially in the flashing/trim work. Many pieces were bent, or haphazardly installed. They had left trash on our roof, didn't bother to hook our internet back up, and did a very poor job of reattaching the electrical to the house. Superior's policy is that you don't pay until they do a final walk-through. They tried to skirt around this with me, however. I was asked about 6 different times to send a check before the walk-through was done. When I called to voice my opinion and complaints on their shoddy workmanship, I was brushed aside as they tried to make me feel like an idiot for having such issues with them. They called one day to tell me a guy would be coming to pick up their left-over materials, saying nothing about a final walk-through, and I happened to be out of the house when he came - no one ever told me WHEN they were coming. So they called back to tell me that WAS the final walk-through and I missed it. Um, I don't think so. Reluctantly, they sent someone else. They admitted at least 6 issues with the job, and said someone would be out the next day to fix them. The workers came, fixed So here we sit with some cruddy workmanship on our home, a TERRIBLE customer service experience from a company who claims, "When we say we're here to serve you, we mean it," and still out the same $17,000 we were quoted. No apologies, no compromises, just a lot of anger and disappointment with a company that had such good reviews before now. The windows they'd had installed were not opening easily, some of them taking a good deal of effort to open and close, and they were not pleased with that, obviously. Another salesperson talked to them but I could overhear the conversation, and that salesperson agreed to have someone come out and take a look at it. Being optimistic, it sounded to me like good customer service at the time, so I took that as a positive. Keep this in mind, we'll come back to something like this later. After ordering my two doors, we set up a time to have the installers come out and do their job, and despite the price, it was about $3500 installed for a standard sized sliding fiberglass patio door and a steel front door without a window or any fancy features, things were going well. Pella products and services are expensive! So the day comes when the installers arrive, and I start asking them questions about what they're going to do, and I get concerned when their plan for "weatherproofing" the patio door consisted of only expandable foam in the gaps and caulk around the trim. Having seen many situations myself with rotten frames around patio doors due to this weatherproofing approach, this didn't seem like enough to me. I asked him about building a sill pan or at least using the fancy flashing tape that Pella makes, and he laughed at me! He had never heard of a sill pan and didn't think it was necessary when I described it to him. What a joke! These installers were no better than an ignorant home owner, and for Pella prices? No thanks, not ever again. Granted, I should have asked about the sill pan much earlier on, or demanded more detailed installation answers, and decided to take my business elsewhere. The installer did entertain me by putting some flashing tape down between the vertical and horizontal parts of the door frame on the bottom, a minimal effort at achieving my weatherproofing request. It also took them four tries to ship in a screen door that wasn't damaged in shipping. At least they were willing to keep trying to order another screen, but there was no priority put on getting one faster for me, and I had to wait 2-3 weeks for another damaged one every time. Do a Google search for "door sill pan" and see how to prevent a rotten frame around your door, and see what at least one Cedar Falls Pella Store installer has no idea that it exists. So after all this, I should mention that the patio door shuts hard, always has, and I think the only solution for that is a new patio door or redo the installation because the same idiot installer shimmed the door in so hard that the track is bowed outward, and takes more effort than necessary to shut it. Remember the first paragraph here again? One more impressive thing the installer did: since my house has vinyl siding, a J channel borders the door trim. The door trim from Pella was about 1/8" wider than the previous trim I had, and instead of taking the time to move the J channel slightly and trim the siding in the process, the installer just crammed the trim in there, and now my J channel is stressed and curling outward. Real attention to detail and doing things correct there. Although this Pella Store is an area Parade of Homes contractor, I recommend finding another place in Waterloo/Cedar Falls to do your windows and doors. Unless you want to pay a lot of money for good service, terrible installation, and ok products. We cleaned up the floors, and discovered that more water appeared after the upstairs bathroom was used. After cleaning up the floor again, we experimented with finding the source. None of the sinks contributed to the flooding, nor did the shower/bath tub upstairs. When we tried the downstairs toilet, it flushed just fine, and no water flooded. When the upstairs toilet was flushed, the water immediately spilled behind the washer from one of the pipes; there was no sound of the water traveling through the pipes, and no hesitation between the flush and the spilling water. After my husband went to the bathroom downstairs, the downstairs toilet overflowed, though.
We called A-1 after looking for a good, affordable plumber. We were informed immediately upon calling that we would have to pay time and a half because it was Sunday, which we were more than okay with (their base hourly rate is $80.00). Originally, the plumber would come out at 3, but it ended up being 4:30, which we expected because we were called back around 2:00 by the secretary/dispatcher to inform us that the appointment he was currently at require installment of new parts, he had another appointment after that one before ours, and so he would be late. The communication in this regard was phenomenal. However, we were originally told that we could post-date a check for payment as a payment plan method, and then later (the second call) were told that we could not do that, so we ended up borrowing some money to cover it.
Once the plumber was there, he was able to examine the situation, fix it, and put everything back where it had been within half an hour. It turned out to be an unknown blockage in the sewer line that the plumber suspected was caused by the way the pipes were installed; he said that it seemed like there was a gap in the line that could contribute to blockages, and which we would need to have looked at to avoid future problems. The plumber was polite, professional, and confident in what he was doing. We were incredibly well pleased with his work, and will definitely go through A-1 in the future."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ia/waterloo/a1-sewer-and-drain-services-llc-reviews-5165499.htm"},"position":10}]}

They did a beautiful job! They were very efficient. They came in and in no time at all, had the old cement out and removed extra dirt and grass to make room for the new, larger patio. They didn't waste any time and it still looks great!
They were very friendly and did a wonderful job painting. They removed all outlet covers, filled holes, pulled baseboards away and then made a trip back the next day to replace it all after the paint had dried. They cleaned up entirely and left the house exactly as it was when they arrived. I...

Replaced my furnace and A/C unit. Very professional and courteous. They even fixed a vent cover that had fallen off and had nothing to do with their installation.

"I hired this company to repair hail damage on my home in 2023. The job was to replace the roofs on my house and garage as well as siding and gutters on my house. Long story short they came out and did the roofs in a timely manner, the siding and gutters not so much. Communication was lacking and they tried to charge me way more than what my insurance scope was. I had to get a lawyer involved. He sued me and we went to court. I won my case in February 2025 and I am still waiting to be paid the money I am owed. I do not recommend this company, buyer beware."

FAQs for patio cover service projects in Evansdale, IA
While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct home features. Porches offer a roof that protects from the elements when coming and going from the house. Generally, porches are on the front of your home. On the other hand, decks are generally built in the backyard of a home and offer no roof or protection from the elements, like rain or snow. Porches typically require less maintenance and upkeep thanks to the roof, but both features require regular cleaning and repairs to maintain good condition.
The cost of an awning is $1,400 to $4,400 on average. However, this cost could be as low as $100 or as high as $7,500, depending on a few factors. The type of awning you choose, the size you need, and your location all affect your overall cost.
For example, portable awnings you can put up and take down yourself range from $100 to $400, whereas motorized awnings are more luxurious and cost between $2,000 and $3,500.
The cost to build a deck is $8,025 on average. However, this cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $22,000, depending on multiple factors, such as size, materials, and deck type. You can expect to pay $30 to $60 per square foot when building a new deck.
Cedar decks are often the most cost-effective option, ranging from $4 to $9per square foot for materials. However, pressure-treated decking, which is resistant to rot, is more expensive, ranging from $15 to $25 per square foot for materials.
Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.
Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.
Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:
Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire
Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning
Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings
Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust
Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option
Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage
