Technician Chase arrived shortly after I contacted him. He looked at the reading on the thermostat and immediately diagnosed the problem as the capacitor. He went outside, took the capacitor off; checked the condenser with his meter, and then installed a new compacitor. He then checked everything to make sure it was cooling. He was very professional and knowledgeable, telling me everything he was doing. Will definitely refer Gubbels.

Furnace was in need of replacement, and it finally went out.  Had a tech on site in under a hour after initial contact.  18 hours later a new furnace was installed and running.  Amazing Techs and office staff.  Tech who sold the system explained everything and answered all questions that were raised.  Install techs were prompt and diligent about getting the new unit installed.

Replaced my furnace and A/C unit. Very professional and courteous.  They even fixed a vent cover that had fallen off and had nothing to do with their installation.

STAY AWAY!!! The distributor was contacted to resolve issues with the unit. They insisted that I inform Angie's List and the BBB about the lack of service to the furnace and air conditioner unit sold to me by this company. Two independent service contractors also reported hearing similar reports from their customers.

"We did not provide service for this customer July 1, 2013 as indicated; last time we performed service for this customer was in 2010."

They completely replaced and set up my system. The experience was very good all the way round. The equipment, the salesman and the workmen were all excellent. They cleaned up my basement area when they were finished. The price was close to the going rate for their type of company. I had other people gave me estimates in the 5000 range, and we needed both AC and the furnace, because my AC had rotted out. Their equipment has made a difference in my electric bill, and I feel that the price was high but it was necessary, I wouldn't go for cheaper.

"Hello [removed member name], I would like to thank you for letting us know about your positive experience in using Gubbels. Our team always wants to leave the house cleaner than it was when we arrived. Like you mentioned, we may not be the cheapest place in town on every job but we always want to provide our customers with the best value. By installing higher quality equipment that may cost a little more upfront, in the long run both you, the customer and us, the service provider will be happier. We try to install units that we would put into our own homes, so we don't just recommend and price out the cheapest brand to try to get the sale. By doing things honestly with integrity, we feel that our customers will be more happy by getting a better system that may cost a little more upfront, but will save you money in the long run on energy usage and less repair calls. Thanks again for your positive feedback and if we can be of any further assistance please let us know. Sincerely, Tim Wolfe"

We belong to a club where we get our spring air conditioning and fall furnace checkup’s; there was a time when they were over pricing. Then they realized when everyone started complaining. They got their prices way back down on that after that. They always come within the window. Most of the time their services are free because we have a 10 year warranty on the furnace and the air conditioner; except, for the maintenance and the things that we have to buy like filters. They are always very professional and come in their boots when they come into the house so they don’t get the house dirty. Our overall experience with them has been excellent.

I had used them on a prior occasion. They were professional and on time. They explained everything that they were doing. I did not check the prices elsewhere. I was happy with them. I have signed up for a contract with them.

We had a complete renewal of our heating and air conditioning system. They were punctual, informative, professional and cleaned up behind themselves and were very pleasant people. There wasn't a long wait for them to come out. They also have a guarantee that if they are not here on time their service call is free.

Sent a sales person to our house to give us a bid. Our current system was working fine, but we had some extra money and our system was old.  He suckered us into purchasing  what he called a superior, very energy-efficient brand that we later found out from other HVAC companies.was a problem system.  Installers seemed very young to be journeyman, but completed the job quickly.  But they vented the system onto our patio.  They also damaged the greenery around the air conditioner when they laid a new foundation slab. We later found out, when the system quick working in about a year, that, according to the serviceman, must absolutely be serviced at least once per year (at a significant cost) or it would go down.  Our old system was over 30 years old, never went down and we had it serviced only periodically.  After the 2nd year, when it quit working again, we called another HVAC company who showed us that all we needed to do was clean a small connector if we began having problems - we did not need to pay someone to come out every year - every 3-5 years should be sufficient.  The service person from the other company also removed some insulation that was put on wrong and reclipped some of the piping - total cost was very minimal. The new system was suppose to be energy efficient, and "should cut our usage by about 50%" - we have not seen anything close - but we did see improvement after the other company serviced the system.
Response from Gubbels One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning
"The system was installed on October 15, 2003 not May 2006 and sold by a person that no longer works at Gubbels. It is Coleman equipment that has not been proven to have any more problems than the average HVAC system. The furnace is 92% efficient, which is energy efficient. We do apologize for venting onto the patio and that the installers damaged any greenery, but neither of those technicians work at Gubbels any more. Any manufacturer and Energy Star.gov recommend having the furnace and air conditioner serviced every year to maintain the efficiency of the equipment and to ensure everything is working safely & properly. We also have a service agreements available that make the maintenance very affordable. We came out did maintenance in 2004 and there were no issues. We came out again in 2008 to fix the heat and the problem showed to be a lack of maintenance. The new equipment is made differently than equipment that is 30 years old, all manufacturers use different materials today than they did 30 years ago. A promise of a 50% cut in utility usage is an unrealistic figure, but again, that salesperson no longer works at Gubbels One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning."

On Monday evening I realized that my furnace was not working correctly and I called Gubbels to take a look at it. About a half hour later a Gubbels technician came and after a through diagnosis of the furnace, determined that a main component of the furnace had gone bad. Tuesday, a representative came to give me an estimate on replacing the furnace and found a couple of issues, that the city inspector would find, that also needed fixing. Wensday, they replaced my furnace and had my house warm again. A week later the city inspector came and gave the installation and the required code fixes his approval. Overall, I thought that everyone was very professional and was more than happy to anwser the many questions that I had. Some notes about the price: I rated the price well but I did not have a chance to get competing quotes (since my house was quickly freezing)so I am not sure how they would stack-up against other companies. Also, the furnace was only about $4300 but it cost about $1300 to bring my house up to code. The furnace that was installed was a 95% effecient Rheem

They’re very good. I have absolutely no problem with them. When they say they’re going to be here, they’re here. Everything is great; I’ve never had a problem with them.

Was a good experience overall. Work began around 8:30 am and was finished around 3:30 pm. Workers were professional and laid sheeting so as not to track anything in the house. Quality of work seems very good. Previous furnace was 30 years old so it vented through the chimney, so they installed new PVC exhaust pipes that exit outside through the foundation for the new unit. They did a good job on that and patched around the holes they made with concrete to seal everything back up. They installed all new lines running from the furnace out to the heat pump as well as a new programmable thermostat. It is a hybrid system, meaning that when the temperature is above a certain point (mine is set at 20 deg. F) the heat pump does the work of heating the house, as it can draw heat out of the outside air. This is cheaper to run than the furnace when temperatures are moderate. When the outside temp goes below 20 then the furnace kicks in and does the work. They include 1 free year of gold service, so they came out 6 months later and did a tuneup on the system. Overall, I am very pleased and it did seem to lower my heating bills a fair amount vs. the old system.

Gubbels did annual maintenance on our furnace. I was a little concerned that he would find something major, as we hadn't had it check in 8 years! Turns out it's working fine, and he was very good about describing how things can go wrong and why it's important to have it checked, without being preachy. It took a little longer than I thought it would, but he did a thorough job. It was definitely worth the $99.

Everything went great! They had three installers working in different areas so the install was completed quickly. They left their work areas cleaner then when they got there. Quick, quality install by professionals.
