"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

"Tim is fast, clean, and reasonable with his pricing. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to drywall & paint. I recieved bids back immediately, and the work was done faster than expected. As a contractor I feel I always have to clean up after everyone, but he leaves the job sites exactly how they are found....BIG plus! We would highly recommend him!!!"

"Taylor and Aubrey were excellent workers, worked hard until the work was done, and pay excellent attention to detail. They take great pride in doing a good job and follow instructions very well. They learned new tasks quickly and were able to apply what they learned to new situations moving forward. Great workers for a large variety of tasks, including serious hard work."

"WOW!  I'm absolutely thrilled with Patrick at Madison's Plumbing!  I was able to contact him via both email and phone, which was very convenient for me.  I work in Iowa City and live in Cedar Rapids, and he conveniently accommodated my work schedule when scheduling my appointment.  He arrived on time, quickly evaluated the items he needed to do the job, retrieved them immediately, and had the whole project completed in no time at all!  He was extremely polite and professional while he explained what needed to be done.  His prices are very reasonable and are a bargain compared to what I have paid other plumbers.  I live in a neighborhood that flooded in 2008, so I'm also very happy to be able to support a local business from my own neighborhood.  I'm a single female homeowner and I felt totally comfortable with Patrick in my home. That has not always been the case with other contractors, but Patrick is definitely trustworthy.
I had already let a lot of water go down the drain while I had waited for a previous plumber to call me back after several unreturned calls, and I wish I had called Patrick first.  I definitely will call him first (and only) from now on.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.
