"Ryan came out and bid the job. We told him what we wanted, and he made several suggestions. We demoed the kitchen ourselves to save money. We got all new cabinets, cut out half of one wall to open up the dining room and kitchen. We bought the tiles for the backsplash. Cabinet Clad, contracted the drywaller, electrician, and cabinet installer. | |The only negative is that there was never a set time when each subcontractor would arrive on the day specified, so basically, the month long project was a bit taxing, since we had to hang out around here and put so many things on hold. | |The subcontractors were all trustworthy, friendly, and did quality work. |We loved Zach, who installed the cabinets, opened the kitchen by cutting the wall and creating a header. | |Legendary Stone did the granite counters. "We are sure glad that we had Mike Schmidt replace our deck and retaining wall and place a stone walkway. We secured two bids from qualified contractors who both had a vision that we realized was theirs and not ours. We are glad we resisted the urgings to use fake composite.  Mike knew we preferred real cedar and he came up with a very stylish diagonal design with solid black railings. The store bought posts just did not match so Mike's crew hand cut cedar posts.  We sought a unique living space that was functional, inviting and personal. I wonder if he is a mind reader since he took to little direction yet crafted the perfect construction to meet our needs. We had a wet spring and we fully expected delay. Mike just did the things that can be done in the rain to keep the project on track to completion.  His crew did not allow the weather to delay progress.  

Mike also installed a new retaining wall that is so much more solid and aesthetically pleasing. We have a two story house with a walk out basement and the challenges of topography and existing doorways flustered the other bidders. Mike knew how to make it all flow with gorgeous flagstone steps. We've really seen nothing like it in a catalogue or magazine or on line. His creativity is paralleled with his attentiveness and genuine desire to please the customer. Knowing it was incomplete without tying the stones and deck into the driveway, he incorporated metal sculpturing, vines and mulch through a local contractor that seemed like a kindred spirit to Mike. 

Don't get us wrong  -- he does not take over. He listens and is responsive. Mike answers his telephone every time, is positive and cheerful and honest. This was however our project but sometimes you don't know quite what you want until someone enlightens you with the possibilities. That is Mike. He is approachable, is never offended with questions and is a good soul.

"Steve is fantastic a true craftsman attention to detail great. Watched him make his tile layers pull up a number of tiles when he did not like how they were set. Went out of his way to make sure my fireplace project would look great picking out the granite and new style stone work. He is a little slow but once he is there he stays on the job working saturday sunday and a holiday day. he him self started about 10:00 AM everyday but had a employee of his there usually around 8:00AM. Steve is old fashioned and personable when you get to know him. Would use him again in the future.

"This was one of their first stone shower installs so it took one day longer than originally anticipated. However the installation guys were great, very polite, and super conscientious. They arrived when they promised to, cleaned up after themselves each day and were very careful throughout our home. They were also very cooperative in helping us deal with our four dogs during the installation process. The finished product looks so good and has been so easy to care for we are now considering having them replace the shower in our master bath with their stone shower.
