"Once he was able to fit us into his schedule, his crew showed up promptly and worked til the job was complete. Joe was patient and helpful in examining our options for insulation, doors and windows and his price was fair. I had a couple change orders, which he graciously fit in ... small sliding door to a loft. His crew worked like a well-oiled machine and did a great job on everything. Windows were placed exactly as we asked and the steel interior turned out great. Thank you Cover's Construction!"

Customers say: True professional

"Andy was quick to respond to my first call and was able to come and give us a rough estimate that same day. He followed with detailed estimate a few days later. He was very patient with us and answered all our questions and guided us to what was needed for our new tile for backsplash. The professionals that work with him for plumbing, cabinet painting, and installing counter tops were all very pleasant and were there when they said they would be or called if there would be a delay.

Although going thru a remodel is always a bit of an inconvenience, the finished product was well worth it! We love our new kitchen and very much appreciate Andy and his dad for their help"

"It was a lengthy project and he had to use his ingenuity to build a covered deck when before it was not, so the roof did not fit with windows and upstairs. It turned out beautifully and he worked within my budget."

"Overall, this was a very good experience.  Todd was prompt, and did a very good job of replacing my shower fixtures, including some old plumbing behind the access panel.  Todd kept me aware of possible delays due to weather, etc., but was very respectful of my time. He does very good work, and I will call him again for other projects in the future."

"Des Moines Area Roofing was professional, trustworthy, and demonstrated excellent attention to detail from initial contact to job completion. Cleanup was so thorough that the next day you wouldn't even know that such a major project had taken place. It has been 2 weeks since the new roofs and we haven't seen even one stray nail left behind (and they did a complete tear down to both buildings, right down to the wood). An excellent company with which to do business. I offer my highest possible recommendation."

"My husband and I had spent 13 years remodeling our 1873 house by ourselves. When it came time to do our dream project of adding a sunroom, finding a contractor to do the work instead of doing it ourselves was a very important decision to us. We met with several contractors and knew instantly that John and his son Nate at Addition Doctors were the people we wanted taking on this project. John and Nate were so great to work with. They were the only company we met with who gave us a computer generated model of what the project would look like so we had a very clear vision of the end product. They were the only company to quote us the project under the budget we told them we had to work with. They kept us up to date at every step of the project and there were never any surprises about cost or timing. They had great ideas for the project when we weren't exactly sure what should or could be done. We love our finished sunroom. The quality of work and service they gave was excellent. We would highly recommend Addition Doctors for anyone who is looking to have quality work done to their home."

"Simply put, the entire project was flawless. As a busy professional it was very nice to sit back and not have to become involved in the project. The owner, Dave, was very courteous and always touched base with me to let me know how things were progressing. The cost for the remodeling work to my garage was very fair. Anyone looking for remodeling work to their home should strongly consider this business."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.

American badgers sleep in the burrows they dig, which can be extensive, featuring multiple chambers and tunnels. Badgers prefer to excavate their dens in open grasslands, prairies, and fields where the soil is easy to dig. They are solitary animals and usually have several burrows within their territory to use as needed. These underground homes provide them with a safe and secure place to rest during the day and to raise their young.

While building a treehouse isn’t necessarily a death sentence, damaging the trunk is one of the ways to kill a tree. If you’re concerned about the tree, opt for a treehouse support system rather than attaching it directly to the trunk. This may involve using bolts and brackets to affix the structure to the tree's branches or establishing a standalone support system that remains unattached to the tree.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

The most common slope, or roof pitch, for a shed is 4:12 or four inches of height for every horizontal foot. For areas that experience heavy snow loads, a steeper roof of 6:12 or 9:12 is best.
