"We needed some drywall work done and H Drywall was one of three companies I contacted for estimates. They were the middle bidder, but I was so impressed with Harry’s (the”H” in H Drywall) on-site visit and his comprehensive proposal that I decided to go with them. I was not disappointed because Harry keeps on top of things and is quick to reply to messages. A bonus was their online payment system which is really convenient and provided instant confirmation of a payment. What truly makes this company worthy of a 5-star rating though are its employees. John, the foreman, is easy to talk to and has so much experience in construction that he solved any problems or challenges that occurred. He always kept us informed of their progress and made sure we were happy with the work they were doing. The rest of the crew Stuart, Derek, Chris, and Evan were all friendly, courteous (always aware that we still lived in the home), and did excellent work. Drywall replacement is messy, but these guys covered everything including the floors and they vacumed daily. The drywall removal uncovered some additional work that needed to be done and H Drywall provided a reasonable estimate to fix the problem. We also had them paint the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. Thank you Evan for helping us choose the right color! Unlike staining concrete, painting concrete often results in chips and peeling over time. You can expect numerous touchups over the years if the concrete is in a high-traffic area. Since concrete paints are opaque, you may also find it more difficult to get the exact color results you want. Lastly, painting concrete can make it much more slippery unless you mix in an additive for traction.

While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. A higher gloss paint might make the texture pop more, but it can look a bit dated once the paint has dried. And don’t worry about whether a water-based latex paint will loosen the wallpaper. Paintable wallpaper has a coating that prevents this from happening, so using latex paints without applying an oil-based primer to seal things first is fine.

You can paint over wood, wood-laminate, and metal cabinets, but you need to prepare the surface first. Plastic laminate cabinets and thin veneers may accept a layer of paint depending on their condition, but they require special techniques and paints. If your cabinets sag or have significant damage, it may be a better investment to replace your cabinets than paint over them.

Streaky trim paint can result from several factors, including improper application techniques and insufficient coats. If you use a brush too large or damaged, you’re more likely to get uneven coverage. Using the wrong paint for the surface can also mean it’s not opaque enough to get the right coverage and a smooth finish. Remember to keep drying times in mind if you’re doing multiple coats. Make sure the bottom layer is completely dry before adding another layer. Otherwise, the brush and drag and clump the different paint textures, leading to a streaky, bumpy mess.
