"This review is long overdue for H Drywall. This was the second time using them. I had an issue with water leaking onto a lower unit's ceiling due to my tenant running the a/c. The a/c water seeped through the balcony and traveled onto the lower unit's ceiling. This caused staining and other obvious issues. I searched and search for someone to fix the issue. Only a few people returned my call, Harry (owner) being one of them. Out of everyone that did return my call, Harry was the only one that made me feel confident in their ability to do the job. Everyone else made me feel rushed or gave me an insane high-dollar quote. Again, Harry was easy to work with, and the quote provided was VERY reasonable. Let me stress that again, it was very reasonable. I decided to go with H Drywall. Harry asked for all the pertinent information needed to go to the tenant's unit and make the necessary repair. He and his team were on time, did the job properly, and were true professionals. The tenant and the owner were pleased with the work and even commented on how Harry and his team were so professional and that the quality of the repair was top-notch. I was happy because the tenant and the owner were happy. Rewind to a week ago, the same thing happened with my tenant's a/c water causing the same issue. It was brought to my attention and I told the tenant and the owner I would fix it, they were pleased to hear that I would be using H Drywall again. As stated previously, the repair was made, and Harry and his team were once again, awesome! I will suggest them to all my friends and family! Thank you Harry!"

"Jodye’s Painting did a great job repainting our home. They were on time and completed it within a week. They worked to make sure all of my concerns were addressed following the final walk around. It's nice when projects like this are completed in a timely manner and with a professional. I am pleased with the outcome of the painting and I believe the price is well justified with the quality of the price is well justified with the quality of their work and ease of the process. Definitely recommend 100%."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

If you don’t treat a cedar fence, it will turn from reddish brown to gray over time. You can keep the cedar from graying and retain its attractive, deep red color by sealing your cedar fence with a stain that keeps the wood’s oils in and serves as a barrier against the sun’s UV rays.

Satin paint is generally considered a better choice for woodwork—including trim, baseboards, cabinets, and doors—than flatter finishes like eggshell or matte. Its soft sheen enhances architectural details and stands up well to frequent cleaning and daily wear. Compared to eggshell and matte finishes, satin is more durable for high-touch areas because it is less porous and doesn't absorb dirt as easily. Matte finishes, in particular, are prone to scuffs and are harder to clean, making them less practical for surfaces like doors and cabinets.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.
