"The Thorntonâ s were very professional. They called first to let me know they were on the way to evaluate the work. They gave me two options on just the work and then an option on stump grinding and clean up. The Thorntonâ s were very knowledgeable on their craftsmanship and reasonably on their prices. Very Nice customer service! I would recommend them to anyone who would need their services of tree cutting, stump grinding, and clearing a field!ð"

"They went above and beyond. We are very pleased with their work. They are an awesome crew. Our yard was out of control with so much debris and trash due to illness and they were so kind and professional in taking care of this. I would highly recommend to anyone. We will be calling them again for future services especially since they do so much in such a wide range of things. "My husband and I choose K&B Lawn and Landscaping after reading the great customer reviews. The fact that this is a Veteran, Woman owned company, was a plus! We requested a quote, K&B returned our call within an hour. Byron was able to come by the same day. We discussed what we wanted (2 baby trees transplanted, bushes relocated, mulch, weed barrier fabric, and plants in front) and our budget. There was great rapport with Bryon. We felt comfortable asking questions and bouncing around ideas. On the big day, the K&B team (Byron, David, Derrian, and Justin) texted us when they were on the way. The team was on time, professional, and friendly. They communicated throughout the process. They also educated us on how to maintain our new landscaping and trees. The K&B team love what they do and they exceed expectations! I mentioned we had a problem with feral cats defecating in our yard, so they brought beautiful plants that also deter cats. Their consideration and great work ethic doesn’t stop there! We had an area BEHIND our fence that was overgrown with weeds that we didn’t ask nor expect them to clean up, but they did anyway! They also cleaned once they finished the job, including my driveway. Talk about great customer service and professionalism! Its rare to encounter a company that cares about their work and their customers. Hiring K&B was a great decision. They are talented, professional, and friendly. Neighbors have stopped by to comment on how beautiful our landscaping is. We cannot express how much we love our yard now. We will definitely hire K&B for all our lawn and landscaping needs. I’ve already referred them to family. Thank you K&B Lawn and Landscaping!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.

Full decorating services often provide rental trees for their Christmas packages, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one. However, individual interior decorators and others may not offer rented trees, so always check the specifics of their services before booking. Keep in mind that you’ll need to prepare the Christmas tree for pick-up shortly after the holidays.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

If a tree isn’t pruned, it can inhibit proper growth and fruit production, cause damage to both the tree and your property, and create entry points for pests and diseases. Pruning a tree enhances its stability, appearance, shape, and growth. Pruning trees regularly can also save you money long-term by avoiding overgrown or dangerous dying trees.
