"Zack and Dilli done a great job on my laundry room floor that was rotted due to the job not being done correct the first time it was replaced. They had to remove several floor joist via cutting them out then replace subfloor and then match existing flooring as best they could to minimize cost. They were very professional and courteous and cleaned up mess before leaving. Looking forward to having them come back and complete other jobs in my home. Judy Goggins"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Using plastic shrink film over the window will cut down on drafts, which makes the air inside your home feel warmer. Plastic shrink film doesn’t quite have the insulative properties of a new window or of adding insulation inside the window jamb, but it will help. Plus, it’s a cost-effective solution to keeping your home warmer.

Most homeowners prefer to service their windows during the spring or fall when temperatures are the most bearable, and having large openings in your wall won’t drastically increase your heating and cooling bills. However, while these seasons are the most convenient, you’ll also tend to pay more for window repair due to the increased demand. If you want to reduce labor costs, consider making window repairs in the off-seasons. Avoid waiting until the heart of winter to do repairs, though, as you could run into leaks and heat loss issues.

The most common types of window frames include frame and sash, metal or aluminum frames, composite frames, fiberglass frames, vinyl frames, wood frames, glass or glazed frames, and insulated frames. Frames can also be categorized by operating types, such as awning frames, single/double-sliding frames, fixed frames, casement frames, and single/double-hung frames.

Options include interior, exterior, and double-pane storm windows. Choose based on needs and preferences.

A window can fall off a track for a large number of reasons. The most common ones usually involve an issue with the track itself or the wheels that glide along it. If the track is bent or broken, the wheels can’t slide. If the wheels are broken or are full of debris, they won’t spin, and you will have to force the window open. The good news is that most window track issues are easy fixes, even for beginner DIYers.
