"I requested for someone to come out to look at a tree stump that needed to be removed and Cody responded within minutes and was at my house later that afternoon. He was polite, welcoming and sure of his assessment. The job was done the following morning, and looks great. I am more than happy with the outcome."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Israel Trucking throughTerrence Underwood and his team to remove trees and debris after Hurricane Helene. They did an excellent job of removing and grinding a fallen cedar tree and other trees and debris in my yard. They also tore down and removed a shed and it's many contents out of my backyard. Although the entrances to my backyard were too narrow for them to use some equipment that would've made the job easier, Terrence and his team cleared the yard and it's contents by hand -- with no complaints. I am excited about continuing to work with them for future projects. The services were scheduled quickly after I contacted them. They take pride in making sure to clean up well. The team worked without supervision and were true to their word....I didn't have to worry about whether they would show up or not. Finally, the prices for services were very affordable - they didn't' try to take advantage of me as a customer. I highly recommend Israel Trucking for fantastic work!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. The fact that around a dozen maple tree varieties exist, only about half of which are considered common, makes misidentification an often typical occurrence.

Trees that flower in the spring—like dogwood, cherry, magnolia, and pear—should not be pruned during the winter. These spring-flowering plants grow buds on old growth, so you’ll actually remove what would’ve been gorgeous flowering foliage. Instead, wait to prune until right after they bloom, when the flowers fade.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.
