"This is my second review and second time using this contractor. This time they installed a water feature at our new home. Once again it was a fantastic job and I took his advice on the water feature he thought would look best in my area. Absolutely beautiful, I love it! I recommend them highly."

"Excellent experience! From the first meeting with Lock and the decision to rebuild my 18 year old pond and waterfall, everything went smoothly and in a timely manner. Lock has a great skill for vision and design. Lock was excellent with communication all along the way. I knew almost to the minute when the supplies would be delivered and when Lock and his crew would arrive for the rebuild. I was scheduled on a day that worked for me, which I really appreciated. Lock and his crew worked tirelessly for 12 hours to complete my project in one day, and it is better than I expected. At completion of my project, the water was flowing and splashing down the falls. The surrounding area looked so natural and perfect in my backyard. Clean up was great! I am very happy with Beholder Aquatics and happy to recommend them to anyone who wants a water feature of any size or design. You won't be disappointed!"

"Kim Nelson of Nelson Masonry took on a difficult job that others were afraid to tackle and did an outstanding job. My renovated front entry required that the tile be stained and sealed. Unfortunately, my builders finished the stone on the landing in one color, and the landscape architects finished the walkway in a lighter color. I went to several stone and masonry companies and no one wanted to deal with the problem of trying to redo the walkway. I am, like most people, emotionally and financially invested in my home, so after being told by several companies that they would not guarantee that they could get a good result, I worried about anyone trying to redo this job. I then spoke to Kim Nelson who was very honest about the problems of trying to redo someone else’s work but agreed to experiment with a small corner of the walkway to see if the change was feasible. After testing the stone to see if he could get a good result, he redid the lighter part of the walkway and the results were beautiful. I recommend Kim Nelson for his professional knowledge, his honesty, and his ability to interact with clients. If Kim is busy when you call, he is well worth waiting for."

"From Blight to Masterpiece. My front was mostly weeds; had numerous bare spots from tree and bush removal, and exposed tree roots from erosion. His crew removed the weeds, filled in the bare spots, and almost all of the tree roots. I also had slate stepping stones that were unearthed and laid back on an even surface. My lawn has been transformed 1000%."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Deep clean your koi pond at least once a year to keep your fish healthy and your pond in good shape. Water testing, debris removal, and partial water changes should be performed weekly. Seasonal professional service will ensure everything is clean and functioning properly.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

DIY kits exist, but professional installation ensures proper filtration, landscaping, and leak-proof construction.

One of the most important parts of building a pond is digging the right depth. Your pond needs to be at least one to two feet deep. The specifics of the depth will depend on factors such as the placement of the pond and whether you plan on having fish. If you have fish in your pond, it will need to be at least two feet deep.
