"Extremely pleased with their work. Was not exactly sure what we wanted in terms of lighting and how to place the ceiling fixtures and under cabinet lighting. They gave us several options and suggestions - was a wonderful dialog and we are so pleased with the outcome. Very professional, very helpful - we are so happy with the outcome."

"I called Joe Cloer, owner of Kalahari, following a power surge in my house . There was no full outage, but lights dimmed and I spelled a burning smell in a few rooms (turned out to be a light fixture and some small appliances that got zapped).  Scary.  I turned off all power and called Kalahari after finding them here on Angies List.  Joe diagnosed the issue as incorrect power coming to the house. One line was overloaded and one line had no power.  After Georgia Power replaced service to my house, Joe and Michael returned and installed a whole-house surge protector and upgraded an old fuse box.  They also checked all outlets in the house and repaired two light fixtures.  When the A/C didn't work, Joe did confirm that the unit was receiving power and pointed out some black spots on the furnace control panel so that I could follow up with my HVAC service provider.
Joe didn't push a lot of upgrades and said the wiring in the house seemed fine from all that he could see. He gave me a lot of good advice and guidance.  Both he and Michael were professional and careful as well as punctual and courteous.
I would use Kalahari again and would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

If you’ve gone through the troubleshooting checklist for your motion detector flood light and it’s still not working, it’s time to consider a new one. Older models that need frequent fixes can be unreliable. Newer flood lights feature advanced technology that improves your lights’ sensitivity and overall performance. If you’re fed up with unexpected darkness, investing in a new light can give you the lighting you need to feel secure.

Installing outdoor lighting can increase your home’s value by up to $2,500. The average ROI on landscape lighting is around 50%, but how much your home increases depends on the market, the type of lighting, and whether you have a strong strategy for your landscaping lighting project. LED and solar lighting may offer the highest ROIs.

There are a number of reasons that landscape lights burn out, including an incorrectly installed transformer, inconsistent voltage, and burned-out or faulty bulbs. Troubleshoot landscape lighting problems by first determining whether it’s a system-wide problem or an issue with just one light, which will help you get to the bottom of your outdoor lighting woes.

Options include pathway lights, spotlights, and smart lighting systems. Choose based on function and aesthetics.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.
