"Jason completely finished out a utility shed turning it into a photography studio- he did everything- wiring, insulation, drywall, lighting, flooring, plumbing, painting, building a bathroom, adding outside steps, underpinning, cabinetsâ ¦ basically the whole project from start to finish! He did an excellent job. I would highly recommend him!"

"He showed up when he said he would. He and his crew did a great job! My fencing looks new again. They completed all the job I requested in a timely manner and were very respectful of my property. They cleaned up afterward. I found Mr. Bentley very knowledgeable and willing to assist. I will definitely call them again if I need handyman services. They get a five star rating from me which I don't give lightly."

Customers say: Quick response

"Thomas has done several projects for me. He built my front porch where he tore out the old porch and rebuilt it with railings and stairs. I recently had him replace some doors on my pack-house (shed), where he did some re-framing around the doors where it was rotten. He replaced some exterior siding, has done trim work, and built a pantry for me. He did an amazing job, it looked it was always here! He is very meticulous about his work, very prompt, personable and on-time. Very good value for money!"

"We're very happy with the results. The floor is much more level, and you can tell throughout the house--doors that used to swing shut on their own now stay in place. The floor also feels much more secure; things on the counters don't shake when you walk by anymore. The crew came on time each day and completed the work within the time frame they said they would, despite some bad weather."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.
