"I used AD for both insulation and drywall. The company is professional, responsive, affordable, and goes above and beyond what is requested. They were able to provide sound insulation for my basement theater and stay within my budget using multiple insulation materials and 5/8" drywall on all of my ceilings. Communication was excellent and the work was finished on time and looks great. I would definitely recommend AD and would hire them again in the future."

"I'd never needed to interact directly with an insulation contractor before, but had an excellent experience with Mark and the team at Insulation Commandos. I shopped three different providers but it was clear these guys were the right choice from price, quality, and attention to detail with their customer service -- do your due diligence as you wish but take it from me you can save time and be just as happy going straight to Insulation Commandos. Mark took the time to view the problem areas in our attic, discuss options and his expert recommendation, and provide a fair and transparent quote. Following the job our home was noticeably more comfortable immediately and we're seeing the benefits pay off literally on our utility bill."

"They did a good job. The insulation works a lot better than I thought it would. With a outside temp of 95 and the temp in the shed at about 85 using a 10000 btu portable ac unit it cooled the shed down in about 20 minuets."

"Antenna picture quality is excellent. The antenna Evan installs is very small, much smaller than the DTV dish. He tested the picture receptions on both my tv's, and since it was excellent I had him install it. He is from MN originally, I am from ND, and we share a similar work ethic. He does an excellent job, is very knowledgeable and experienced, and his pricing is very fair. A company you surely can trust. He also owns an insulating company, I am going to have him check my attic insulation and install an electric attic fan. With United at over 10 cents per KWH it will pay for itself shortly. Additionally, I cancelled DTV. The next day they called me with pricing offers and other incentives. I told them it was too late. I called them every time I got a bill, since it went up every month, and they had their chance. Now I am free and in control. I like to be in control. I am going to set up Tablo and Roku on my network."

"Troy was very professional and informative he even offered to have his crew check my previous excursion I had completed by another company, to ensure no future intrusion of pests in the future. There was a little mix-up with the crew not using the HEPA vacuum during removal of old insulation before installing new insulation but Troy discounted the service and apologized. Overall I am pleased with my experience and will be recommending them to my real estate clients and friends!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

If you’re installing new drywall, you may need to skim coat the drywall first for a smooth finish and to allow the primer to adhere to the wall. It’s only necessary if there are imperfections in your drywall due to issues with the studs or improper drywall installation. If you’re refreshing existing walls, you may want to skim coat if there are imperfections across the wall. As an alternative, you can repair your drywall and sand it for a smooth finish before painting.

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.

If your home’s foundation shifts slightly over time, any seams in the drywall represent the weakest point in the wall, leading to cracks. If your home has significant changes in temperature and humidity, this can cause the drywall to swell and contract slightly, causing a crack at the weak point of the seam. If your drywall installer did a poor job securing the panels to the wall studs, this could cause a weak layout and cracks in the seams.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.
