"I had used a product to put a shine on my pre-engineered floors that caused a build-up,, The company stripped all off the wax off and my floors and they look brand new. The crew of John an Reggie did a great job."

"Lee and his crew did an outstanding job. They showed up when they said they would. We had excellent communication all during the project. There were no surprises. They paid attention to the finest detail. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone who needs to have a flooring project done."

"Pablo, Julian, and their employees were always respectful, on time, and hardworking. We had an upstairs master bedroom, a large hallway, 3 additional bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms/ closets all painted (ceiling and trim included) and they were done within 3 days, even with touch ups. We were amazed. Julian and Pablo are so respectful and always used plastic and paper to keep our carpet clean. Their quotes were itemized so we new exactly what was going on. I dread having work like this done, but HSS made it really easy and I’m so grateful I know about them!!"

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Both buffing and polishing increase the longevity of your floors by removing scratches and buildup, but they are different processes. Polishing removes the top layer of your floor, removing surface-level scuffs and scratches. Buffing your floor involves filling the scratches and scuffs with a buffing solution. No matter which method you choose, you can rest assured that both techniques will leave your floor looking shiny and new.

Yes, you can polish an old cement floor. However, be aware that the first pass with the concrete grinder may reveal a few surprises and imperfections. You may also have to contend with the consequences of previous floor coverings, such as tile or carpet, which can leave a pattern in the concrete. Old concrete is more likely to produce uneven results if you want to use a dye or other coloring.

Wood floors should be polished every two to four months to maintain a shine and to keep them protected from daily wear and tear. More frequent maintenance includes dry mopping the floors daily and cleaning spills immediately, using a spray mop and cleaner weekly to remove any built up dirt or grime, and sanding and refinishing the floors every three to five years.

If your floor is still sticky after mopping, chances are you used too much or too little of the cleaning solution. Using too little won’t get all of the grime off, but using too much can leave its own residue. Refer to the cleaning solution’s instructions and dilute it as directed.

To properly maintain and care for hardwood floors without damaging the finish, establish a regular cleaning routine. Sweep with a broom or microfiber dust mop daily, or vacuum weekly, to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the surface; be sure to clean in tight corners and under furniture. For a deeper clean, use a damp mop with a cleaner specifically designed for hardwood floors, but avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive water, as this can damage the wood. You can further protect your floors by placing mats at entryways to catch dirt and moisture and putting felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. For long-term care, refinish the floors as needed to keep them looking their best.
