"Mr. Value Electricians did a wonderful job at our place. We had them do a new install of two bathroom vent fans. We did not have vent fans before. Mark did a great job leaving the rest of the ceiling totally untouched. He ran the ductwork to the soffit in the attic--which I was totally fine with. If I run into flow problems, I may eventually get a roofer to installs vents directly above to reduce any pressure drops due to bends. No one tried to sell us fancy or overly expensive fans. We provided our own. It was a good experience."

"I received topnotch service from Thomas Electrical Solutions, LLC. Danny and Michael were extremely professional and did an excellent job. I would, without a doubt, hire them again as well as recommend them to friends and family. Christy, was also very helpful. We rececently moved and had family coming over to showcase the new home. I ordered one ceiling fan (dinette) and a very large chandelier (foyer). The delivery of these items were scheduled the same day as the services I needed from Thomas Electrical. This company was very flexible with my tight timeline - working around my delivery schedule to accommodate my needs."

"Very well. The slight dip in the kitchen looks better and the doors trued up. The slight sag still in the kitchen floor is because of the sub floor plywood which I didn't want to get in to. They leveled the joist by shimming the tops of several cinder block posts and installing a pair permanent of steel posts under a section of joist the previous owner had cut in two."

"I highly recommend Jake and his services as a master electrician. He is knowledgeable and experienced and it shows in his work. I hired MJ power to install ceiling fans in my new house and I’m very happy with how they look. Everything works great too. After getting quotes from other electric companies, MJ power had the most reasonable pricing. Scheduling was easy and Jake arrived on time to do the job. Excellent customer service. I will definitely use MJ power again."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.
