"I originally called John Wright Construction and Remodeling to do a major remodel of my laundry room. John also owns Advanced Plumbing Services, so I am splitting this review between the two companies, since they were both onsite. As far as the plumbing work, they relocated all of the water, drain and vent lines to new location in laundry room. While they were here I also had them install a new dishwasher. All work went very well with no issues at all."

"The representative contacted me shortly after I posted my need for a plumber. They scheduled me and arrived on time. The plumber started the work and gave me updates during his visit. Afterwards, he took the time to answer all my questions. I will definitely call on Jett for future plumbing needs."

Small jobs welcome

"Called Rescue Plumbing â ªon Saturday morningâ ¬ and spoke with Duane who quoted me a price and time when he would be at my house to replace a busted water heater. He arrived promptly, went to work and had us up and running in a couple hours. He was very courteous and professional and kept my wife informed throughout the entire process (I was at work). I wonâ  t hesitate to make him my first call if needed again. I highly recommend Rescue Plumbing.à Â"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Yes, most bathrooms can be converted into a wet room, but the process often involves extensive renovations. Key requirements include having proper plumbing and the ability to slope the floor slightly for drainage. The conversion process typically requires removing the existing floors to install drainage, replacing drywall with waterproofed cement backer board, waterproofing the walls, and installing new fixtures to create an open, curbless shower space. A skilled home renovation professional can evaluate your bathroom to determine if it's a suitable candidate. It's also worth considering resale value; if you only have one bathroom, converting it to a wet room might not be ideal as many homebuyers prefer to have at least one bathtub.

Unfortunately, no, you cannot shower while your septic tank is being pumped. The water needs to be shut off while your septic tank is serviced, which includes showers, toilets, sinks, and dishwashers. Take a shower well before pumping is scheduled to begin. Once the pumping is complete, you can resume regular water use.

Soda, coffee, and other soft drinks are highly acidic. This affects the pH in septic tanks, causing them to require more frequent pumping. However, a vast majority of people don't need to worry about septic system disruption. Pouring out the occasional flat soda doesn’t affect septic systems to the same degree as the high-volume dumping from restaurants and convenience stores.

There are three main types of shower valves: pressure-balancing, thermostatic, and diverter. Pressure-balancing and thermostatic valves are both considered mixing valves because they regulate water flow and temperature, but they do so in different ways. A pressure-balancing valve senses changes in water pressure, such as from a flushing toilet, and adjusts the incoming hot and cold water to maintain a consistent temperature; these typically use a single knob. A thermostatic valve uses a thermostat to precisely control the water temperature and requires a separate control to adjust the water volume. A diverter valve directs the flow of water from one fixture to another, such as switching from a tub faucet to a showerhead in a tub-shower combination.

Most of the time, the answer is yes, but with an enormous asterisk. While an increase in iron deposits isn’t likely to harm you if consumed, that doesn’t mean you should drink any brown water from your faucets. In our book, it’s better to be safe than sorry and opt for bottled until the issue is resolved.
