"I need to get more pictures but these guys did a great job. They flagged it and walked it with me. They helped me clear property line boundaries and created amazing shooting lanes at each stand spot. They arrive early and stay busy working and had machines that didn’t break down or get stuck like others have. I highly recommend these guys! Top notch for sure!"

"Trey did some land clearing for me at my house. He did a great job and completed the work in a very timely manner. He was very professional and easy to talk to about the work that needs to be done. I would definitely use him again. No job too big or small. If you need him, give him a call!"

"We had a hard time finding anyone who could level the ground for our pool, and wasn’t charging an arm and a leg to do it. (We had already done a lot of the work ourselves!) My husband went on home advisor and we were contacted by Johnson Land Management. He said he was in the area with his equipment, and could be over in just a few minutes to complete the job, if we were still interested. He quoted us almost $400 less than the previous quote we had gotten, and he leveled the ground for us and helped put the sand down also, which we were not expecting (but definitely appreciated!) He did the job quickly and was mindful of how he turned his skid steer around so as not to completely destroy our grass."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

To prepare for a land survey, you must thoroughly check your land surveyor’s qualifications, reviews, and fees to align with your expectations. When it is time for the survey to be conducted, ensure that you have all your documents organized and available, know and mark your property lines, and inform your neighbors that the survey is happening.

Depending on the type of land survey, the report will mark the boundaries of your property, the topographical changes of the landscape, as well as major natural and added structures to the plot. A more detailed survey, like an as-built survey, will note the measurements of the structures and landscape following major construction. A topographic survey will also help your contractor determine the cost of land development projects.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.
