"I called Pillar and they answered immediately. I asked them to schedule a service call for a check-up for my office unit. Quinton came out professional dressed came right in and got started. He told me he would recommend the service plan for my business so they could keep an eye on my unit to reduce any breakdowns. I was very impressed about his professionalism and knowledge of the equipment. I now have a peace of mind getting ready for the summer months Bill Roberts CEO Bill Roberts Electrical, Inc. "This is a really nice business! It was Friday late afternoon and I needed a new faucet installed on my kitchen sink. I figured I would have to wait till Monday. This really nice man told me he would have someone here in about forty minutes. My faucet could not be fixed and the repairman went and got me a faucet and installed it for me. This is a great company with excellent service. Thanks so much!"

"I've been a customer of AC Denco for about five or six years now. Always very satisfied with their service and work. My HVAC unit was old, not large enough to heat/cool the house, not very efficient and frequently needed repair, although it was getting harder & harder for Dennis to find parts for such an old unit. Last summer, while here trying to fix my old unit, Dennis, convinced me that it was time for me to get a new HVAC unit, So, I bit the bullet, and got a new, larger, much more efficient unit. He had told me that if I had a better unit, I would see a nice drop in my electric bills, because the unit would be working much more efficiently. Well, for a year now, I've been absolutely thrilled with the new unit, and I'm loving those lower electric bills! They've been cut down, sometimes as much as 50% from what they used to be. It's wonderful. So, if anyone is 'on the fence' about whether to spring for a new unit or not....DO IT. It makes a huge difference! The house is heated & cooled Much more efficiently, we're using less electricity, and we're loving the lower electric bills! And the $$ we're saving on our electric bills, means that the unit is pretty much paying for itself! Thanks so much, Dennis and the crew at AC Denco... I really appreciate all of you!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Vents may blow air even though the air conditioning system is off because of the pressure difference between indoor and outdoor air or drafts from leaky ducts. Check for leaks or drafts in the ductwork or around windows and doors.

If you know how to identify supply and return ducts, you’ll find that only the supply ducts will have dampers. Although your return ducts can have dampers, it’s not common. If you have one return duct that is pulling in too much air, adding a damper to it can help with overall system performance. However, dampers on return ducts are not a necessary addition for most homes.

Capacitors are the most frequent part of an HVAC system to experience failure. These components are crucial for starting the motors that power the fans and compressor, but over time, they may become worn or fail due to electrical surges or regular wear and tear. When capacitors malfunction, HVAC systems may experience decreased heating or cooling efficiency, or even total system failure. Replacement or maintenance of capacitors is a common requirement for the optimal functioning of HVAC systems.

The cost to replace an AC evaporator coil is typically between $600 and $2,500, with an average cost around $1,300 to $1,350. The price of the coil itself can range from $550 to $1,100, depending on the brand, size, and style, with professional labor adding around $700. Replacing a condenser coil is generally less expensive, costing about $800. Because this repair involves handling refrigerants, it requires a licensed AC professional. Regular inspections, which cost between $200 and $600, can help prevent costly coil replacements.

If both your furnace and AC unit are more than a decade old, it may be a good idea to replace both of them. However, your furnace can last up to three decades, and your air conditioner can typically last up to 15 years, so consulting with a pro before deciding to replace both of them is best. If it’s before that time limit for each, you can fix many problems with repairs or just replace one.
