"GWS Welding Solutions did an outstanding job replacing our front and back metal railings. From start to finish, Wilson’s communication was excellent—he kept us informed every step of the way and was incredibly knowledgeable about the work and materials. The pricing was very fair for both labor and materials, and the quality of the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations. We are extremely happy with the results and highly recommend GWS Welding Solutions."

"I used their services to weld my mailbox back onto the pole. Scheduling was easy with a simple phone call. Compton showed up right on time. He was very professional and knew exactly what to do. I spoke with him a little bit and he is a really nice guy. The job turned out wonderful and at a reasonable price. I am a very satisfied customer and highly recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

Right Hand's Work LLC was formed in 2023. I handle the job tasks solo, so customers see quality work without a lot of disruption. RHW handyman services is an able force in accomplishing various tasks and has been dedicated to quality work across a large spectrum of household repairs and design solutions. I do not take licensed plumbing or electrical work, nor operate with intent to do either of these, but I am qualified to help the customer with either on occasion. I have experience as a certified welder of structural, pipe, and boiler tube with 3 years as an industrial maintenance foreman. I graduated Gwinnett Technical College's "Welding and Joining" program in 2005 and have 20 years welding experience. I have obtained Journeyman Iron-worker and Journeyman Pipe-fitter. I designed and built the red 6000 lb. company trailer.

Welding questions, answered by experts

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound
