"A coworker needed some welding work done, and had a guy sent over. He came over while I was at his house and was able to see him in action cutting and welding a custom table frame. Very polite and professional, he worked diligently and skillfully until the job was done. Great quality work for an affordable cost. The next time I need any welding or torching work done, I have got his card. Preciate the educational evening, Mr. Devoss."

"Compton repaired the broken base but was unable to weld the pedestal to the base as it wasn't metal. he however, fixed the cracks in the base and put in screws to try to keep the grill in place. He also welded a small chair that had 2 broken prongs. he refused to charge me anything, but i gave him a check for 20.00 for his efforts and materials and time he spent. he said he'd call me back mid week to see how things were holding up, but i haven't heard from him. one of the prongs on the chair broke the first time i sat in it, so i will call him back. he couldn't have been any nicer, or done anything more to help me. I would recommend him"

"

The guy came on a really cold day, so I was pleasantly surprised that they still came.  They were quick, my husband supervised closely and so they had to make adjustments.  They forgot the fence to bring the 9"L 5'H, so they had to make a 2nd trip.  They showed up and quickly got to work and left in a hurry.  They were messy and did not clean up the clumps of cements in the grass, on the left side the post was not aligned well to the left brick column (it was short about 4 inches, very noticeable) and in some places the puppy fencing did not touch the ground, so we will have to probably make sure to keep the pine straw up high to keep the puppy from getting out.

I thought the price was a little high since most of the installation was the vinyl puppy fencing (16 inches high).

I said I would use the company again because they were responsive; however if there was a Not Sure block I would have selected it.

UPDATED:  The guys returned and fixed the 4 inch gap between the fence and the brick column.  I did not watch so I'm not certain how the repair was made; however it was corrected.  As for the doggy fencing my husband and I actually made all the adjustments prior to the guys returning and picked up clumps of cement.  Also, your guys left behind a measuring tape. I appreciate the response made to provide remedy to issues.  Thank you!

"Highly recommend! This is the second time I hired Michael Muntean for a structural analysis of my home and recommendations for repair. My house is a long ranch-style structure built in 1990. Mr. Muntean;s first analysis focused on the flooring underneath my kitchen area, as I requested, to ensure the structure was sufficient to support my kitchen renovation plan. His second visit six years later, focused on structural repairs necessary after I'd already done a major master bath renovation on the other side of the house. Key word: after Although the contractor who came out to address the kitchen support did good work, he fell short in working on the other structural issues Mr. Muntean had pointed out under the master bath area located on the opposite side of the house. I did not notice the omissions, and it came back to haunt me after the bathroom renovation was completed last year. Lesson learned: Obtain a professional engineering analysis before you begin any work that may affect the structural integrity of your home, and make sure any contractor you hire to do the work is qualified and meets or exceeds your consultants recommendations. Without Mr. Munteans guidance, especially on this second consult, I would have paid out twice as much money on repairs recommended by a well-known foundation company without really having had the core foundation problems addressed. Mr. Munteans reports are detailed, professional and customized for you, not cookie-cutter, so it may take up to 7-10 days to receive it. During his visit he encourages you to take notes. His pricing is competitive and he has absolutely no conflict of interest because he does not do the work, and typically will not recommend contractors. He strictly represents the home owner."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.

Professional metal fabricators typically charge around $70 per hour, but the total cost of your project will depend on several factors. The largest cost drivers are the size, complexity, and design of the project, as well as the price and type of metal used. A good way to estimate the total cost is to multiply the cost of raw materials by four; typically, one-quarter of the total goes toward materials and three-quarters toward labor. Your geographic location can also influence costs, as labor and material prices vary by region.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour
