Quality over Quantity! I take pride in everything I build or replace, I don't cut corners and I don't like to be asked to cut corners, pride is in the Quality of work, not quantity.

"I asked Thaxton Construction Llc to look at my roof and give a quote on a new roof. I wasn't sure how old the roof was but knew repairs were needed. Mr. Thaxton advised the age of the roof, suggested necessary repairs and gave me two detailed quotes to decide between a new roof or repairs/maintenance to extend the life of the existing roof. I really appreciated the options and he honesty. I am pleased with the work that was done and will call again in the future."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Any wood deck provides some ventilation to the area below, as is the nature of that type of deck design. However, areas that experience excessive humidity and associated moisture benefit greatly from a dedicated ventilation system in the form of strip vents. This addition helps the various wood boards contract and expand evenly throughout the years and reduces the chances of twisting, warping, and buckling.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Choices include wood, composite, and hardwoods, each with unique benefits.

Composite decking may never warp, or it may warp quickly. Several factors can influence the rate of warping, including the material's quality, installation method, and installation location. Generally speaking, high-quality materials that have been installed properly are drastically less prone to warping.

Both aluminum and composite decking materials are environmentally friendly, with aluminum decking coming in as the most eco-friendly option.

Though composite decking helps remove plastics from landfills, recycles wood, and lasts longer than traditional wood decks, it’s not recyclable and only lasts for 25 to 30 years on average. Aluminum can last well over 30 years and is almost always recyclable.
