"They had an estimator at our location the day I first made contact.  Rob was friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. He answered all my questions and respected my timeline and need to gather other quotes.  I was especially grateful for Rob's detailed explanation for his approach to our roofing needs.
In the end we did not go with Deans, but only because we opted for a different approach to redo the flat part of the roof.  The Deans price estimate was on the lower end of 4 that we received, and was definitely reasonable.
I am keeping their name and number for future construction and repair needs.

Composite decking boards aren't your only options for building a deck. There are several other types of materials for decks, including wood and aluminum decking. Aluminum is a lightweight, water-resistant, and low-maintenance material that is also non-slip.

Expect to spend around $10,000 to $11,000 to replace a 20-by-20-foot deck. Using high-end materials like composite or exotic hardwoods can drive up the cost, as can custom features and design elements. You can also expect to pay more than average if your deck replacement requires a site evaluation or if you need the work done during the busy season.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.

Footings for ground-level decks need to be at least 12 inches deep, and some areas require them to be even deeper. A standard range for deck footings is anywhere from 12 to 48 inches. The minimum footing depth is determined by an area’s frost line and soil conditions.
