"Good person, knowledgeable, and patient when it come to ensuring your vision comes to life. When I've shown the plans to GCs , they all commented on how well executed the plans are. He will also provide renderings of your vision so you are able to physically SEE your ideas from your head to almost life:-).I will add, when designing, I had a vision, but no real idea of how much my vision would cost. Now the beautiful plans, are a bit costly to build. I will suggest developing your plans with the potential GC and architect at the same time if you value adhering to a build-out budget. I definitely recommend Mike!"

"There was quite a lot of work to do and for a project this size we did not expect everything to go perfectly.   For the most part, we are very satisfied and would use them again, but not for all projects.   We thought the price was very fair.   The price they quoted was for labor, tile and hardwood.   We paid Lowes and Home Depot separately for paint, vanities, bathroom faucets & hardware, new tub, and misc supplies.  The crew that did the travertine tile installation and bathroom renovations did a great job.   We are also extremely pleased with the hardwood floor installation and refinishing of existing hardwood floor.   Prior to starting the work, a gentleman met us at the tile store and helped us pick out the new bathroom tile -- this was very helpful and much appreciated.  Our main disappointment was with the painters.   They had problems with their spraying equipment and seemed haphazard in their approach to the project -- trim in one room would be done but not the walls, walls in another room would be done but not the trim, half a wall would be painted and then they would move to another room, eventually everything was painted correctly and looked great but the painters slowed down the entire project causing it to take longer than expected.  There were other minor issues that were eventually resolved to our satisfaction.   We would use 2hireahandyman again but we would hire someone else for any painting projects.

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can build over a stump if the roots are no longer alive. Living roots will continue to grow and may damage your new construction over time. Similarly, you should also remove rotting stumps because they may continue to attract pests and even cause new structures (especially those made from wood) to decompose as well.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.

Many horizontal cracks in home foundations result from water and soil pressure from outside of the building or from a footing that is shifting. Under those circumstances, horizontal cracks are a structural problem that requires repair before they become worse and more difficult to fix. However, in very specific cases, thin horizontal cracks may simply be a cosmetic blemish due to concrete shrinkage.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.
