Most of what we do is full tear-out and replacement. We remove the old cracked, settling, or spalling concrete, rebuild the base the right way, and pour new. We also handle driveway extensions and widening, aprons and curb cuts, stamped and decorative concrete, and concrete repair.\n\nOur crews have poured more than 38,000 residential concrete projects. Every job gets a dedicated project coordinator, up-front pricing with no surprise change orders, and a final walkthrough before we call it finished. Licensed and insured.\n\nNeed a new driveway? "Byrd and his team were exceptional. They worked with us to design our backyard and side walkways, transforming a steep, muddy area into a beautifully paved backyard and a walkway along the side of the house. They also built a seating wall that perfectly frames the backyard space, along with raised retaining walls that were ideal for plantings around the home. Although there was a bit of a wait before they got started, it was well worth it. The results are fantastic, and we’ve already received so many compliments. I would recommend this company 100%. They truly care about the quality of the materials they use and the results they deliver. Look no further than this company for your hardscape and landscaping work."

"I want to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding work and true professionalism shown by A1 Asphalt Paving & Seal Coating. Mr. Ezekiel George and his expert team truly went above and beyond at my property — they made the impossible possible. I didn’t have the full budget to completely pave my jagged, worn-out driveway, but the compassionate team at A1 Asphalt was incredibly understanding and sympathetic to my situation. Ezekiel and his dad (Jerry) personally worked with me to create a custom plan that delivered exactly what I needed — all while staying well within my means. They even offered a flexible payment plan to ease the financial pressure. From start to finish, the crew was fast, diligent, and highly skilled. They kept me informed every step of the way and only asked for payment once the job was complete and I was fully satisfied. A week later, after some heavy rain, I noticed a small blemish. I called Ezekiel and received an immediate, friendly response. He promptl"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

Since it has a smoother surface using a mixture of finer rock and sand, 41A tends to be the best asphalt grade for a driveway, especially for residential driveways. Other options are available, but more homeowners choose 41A for a smoother asphalt driveway. Talk with your asphalt driveway professional for recommendations of the best grade for your specific driveway.

Gravel is the most economical and least expensive driveway material, costing between $1 and $3 per square foot. This is significantly cheaper than alternatives like asphalt or concrete. However, it's important to consider long-term costs, as gravel driveways require regular maintenance. You will likely need to add new gravel filling once or twice a year and regularly rake it to keep it level, which can add to the overall cost over time.

Sometimes, when people talk about asphalt driveways, they’re actually referring to asphalt concrete, which is a completely different compound. Asphalt concrete is asphaltic cement combined with sand or grit. It is significantly more lasting and durable than regular asphalt but also much more expensive. If you’re considering using asphalt concrete, ask an asphalt company for their expert opinions.
