"John and Brianna were wonderful from the start. John is super thorough and meticulous. He and his crew were in and out in less than 3 days, leaving ballroom quality floors. If and when I need flooring work done again, I will definitely hire Concept Coatings. It is very hard to find such an honest and dependable contractor these days, who can perform such high quality work."

"I was skeptical about myflooringâ s process because I had to take my own measurements, but the customer service I received really helped me decide to go with them and I am so glad I did. I changed my mind about 3 times with what flooring samples I wanted, and I got all of them practically the next day. The carpet installers came during the scheduled day and did a fantastic job! My new carpet looks amazing and feels so good. I even had another contractor comment on the great quality of padding they used for the floors. I did take off a star for customer service because there was some miscommunication between the sales dept and installing dept about which rooms I was having done, but it was fixed! I canâ t wait to get my other floors done with myflooring."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

You may be wondering, how long does carpet last? It depends on the type. For your Berber carpet, it should last 10 to 15 years with regular cleaning and maintenance. For the longest lifespan possible, you should call in a carpet cleaner for a deep cleaning at least once a year.

Also, you can opt for higher-quality Berber carpet and underlayment which will last longer. And if you have pets, make sure to house-train them and use extra rugs in areas you expect high foot traffic.

Most experts agree that the best thing with which to clean epoxy floors is a diluted mixture of ammonia and warm water. You can also use mild dish soap diluted with warm water or a degreaser (such as Simple Green or Goof Off) diluted with warm water. Some soap-based cleaners can leave a haze. If you notice this, further dilute the mixture with water or use a different detergent that does not leave a film. You should never use harsh cleaning chemicals, any type of acidic compound (such as vinegar or citrus-based cleansers), or harsh scrubbers like steel wool or hard bristle brushes.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

While not always required, experts recommend removing baseboards before removing old carpet and installing a new one. This practice leads to a smoother process and a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. Removing the baseboards allows for a seamless carpet installation without the risk of damaging either the carpet or the trim. It also provides a good opportunity to repaint or stain the baseboards and inspect the underlying wall for any issues. If you prefer a quicker option, you can carefully cut the old carpet along the edge of the baseboards, but this may result in a less polished installation for the new carpet.
