"We at the Coastal Homeschool Co-op of Fort Walton Beach were thrilled to have David invite us into the Traditions Workshop space to demonstrate to our inquiring young minds woodworking and blacksmithing. He and Billy made room within the workshop to prepare for the comfort, enjoyment, and safety of our group of approximately 30 children and adults. They both were fantastic and patient teachers who were masters in their craft. Willing to share their knowledge and encouragement to all. David and Billy were able to successfully speak and show concepts that were easily understood from the perspective of a young child (our group comprised of children ranging between the ages of 1 to 12). My 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son loved the little swords that were forged right in front of them. They came home and opened a parcel with them right away. David asked the children what character he should make into a wooden treasure box and after some suggestions from the audience, they decided on a whale. Right in front of their eyes, a whale was made from a block of wood. A truly memorable experience! Once my children are of appropriate age, I will surely enroll them in classes or apprenticeships here. David and Billy were truly inspiring to all those who attended. Our group is thankful for their time and wisdom."

"I appreciate Wesley’s quick response and availability for my small on-site welding need (mail box repair). He accomplished the job the day we communicated - keeping me updated w photos of the work, his rationale to approach the repair work, able to pay by app, and 90 day workmanship guarantee. I had been in touch with two larger group for pst 1-2 months - being larger groups, they were not able to prioritize my small job. I am completely satisfied, and if I ever need more extensive iron work (railing, stairs) I will contant Wesley first."

Welding questions, answered by experts

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.

Choosing the right metal fabricator for your project begins with research. Find a reputable fabrication company by searching for reputable contractors in your area, and then reviewing photos of their previous work, customer reviews, and photos of the company’s workshop.

Once you’ve narrowed down the list, contact the companies to ask about the types of metal fabrication projects they specialize and inquire about guarantees and warranties on workmanship. You should also ensure the company uses high-quality material, and ask about the schedule and turnaround time for your proposed project.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.
