"Vendor was out of stock, in his vehicle, of a necessary repair component. I was charge $200 for a partial completer, then another $150 to bring and install the component. Should have been completed the first time and pricing more competitive."

"Hard-working young man. Arrived as agreed and worked until we had gone through all of the contents of my garage. Came with a U-Haul trailer and took off anything I didn’t want. If you need someone to help you with the heavy lifting and motivation to clean out a room or garage, Jimmy is a great choice."

Hi, I’m Kyle, owner of Off Duty Junk Removal. I’m a local firefighter with 10 years of service, and I started this business to continue serving my community while providing reliable, honest junk removal and hauling services. We’re fully insured, offer straightforward pricing, and always try to donate usable items to local organizations or people in need whenever possible. Whether it’s a single item pickup, full cleanout, yard debris, or light demolition, you can count on us to get the job done right.

"Dawn came the same day to assess my needs. I had an appointment very quickly and had my pressure washing and porch cleaning done in a very timely and efficient manner. I will definitely use COPPS again for future projects. I am already putting together my next project. You cannot go wrong with the fair pricing and the promptness of this company. I highly recommend them!!!"

Hauling questions, answered by experts

Concrete disposal costs between $0.50 and $2 per square foot of concrete in most cases, but the price can fall outside of that range depending on a few factors. Some of the most important cost factors include the following:

  • Amount of concrete you need hauled away

  • Distance from a proper dump site

  • Whether or not your old concrete can be recycled

  • Add-on services, like concrete demolition and site prep

  • Local dumping costs

The average cost of appliance removal is around $75 per appliance, but you could pay anywhere from $25 to $150, depending on a few factors. Some things that have an impact on the cost of appliance removal include the following:

  • Size of your appliance, with larger items costing more to haul away

  • Number of doorways or stairways the removal specialists need to navigate around

  • Distance from a proper dumping site

  • Presence of water lines or gas lines that need to be disconnected during removal

It’s often not necessary to clean up rocks before you sell or donate them, although it’s a nice gesture. Cleaning the rocks you’re getting rid of probably isn’t worthwhile if you’re selling a large volume of small rocks, but if you’re selling or donating large boulders for landscape design, a quick clean might fetch more money or help out the donation center.

If you choose to break down a piano on your own, a 10-yard dumpster should be large enough to hold the individual parts. Keep in mind that junk haulers may not allow you to place a whole piano in a rollaway dumpster, but this will depend on the company, your contract, and local laws. That being said, choosing the right dumpster size will save you from the headache of over-filling the container during your cleanout.

Not every, but many, states classify fluorescent tubes and CFL light bulbs as hazardous waste that need to be disposed of in a specified manner. California defines its list of hazardous fluorescent tubes as follows:

  • Fluorescent tubes, including low mercury tubes.

  • Compact fluorescents, including low mercury lamps

  • Metal halide lamps, such as floodlights for  large indoor and outdoor areas and gymnasiums

  • Sodium lamps, such as those sometimes used as security lighting and outdoor floodlights

  • Mercury vapor lamps, such as those sometimes used for street lighting
