"I wish there were more stars to give to Carlos. He’s not only an excellent human being, but also an exceptional carpenter and magician as well. His attention to detail is simply amazing, his workmanship is impressive and the quality of his work outstanding. The piece of furniture I needed him to build wasn’t overly difficult, but when we realized the condition of the wall and the floor around it might make it more complicated - he still worked his magic and made it all work-out beautifully. He always comes accompanied by his wife, Ines, and they are both the nicest, hardest working people I have ever met. A joy to work with...A rare find these days. I just want to have more projects so I can call them again!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"10/10 would recommend Philip at Mastropiece! We had custom cabinets and a shelving unit built for our living room and we are so happy we went with Mastropiece. The work was very reasonably priced compared to other quotes we received for the same project, and the final product is flawless. Philip was very communicative throughout the whole process and even sent picture updates along the way as he was building in his shop. We will definitely use his services again in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"I had a very positive experience with Keys To Do. I hired them to finish up what 2 other contractors had failed to do after Irma, which included dry wall, a complete bath renovation and misc other repairs. Bogie was easy to work with, his crew showed up & and did quality work. My bathroom is beautiful thanks to James. I plan on using them again in the near future!"

"He improved a small carport of which the foundation under had eroded from water and settled. Also closed in side of carport in an attractive fashion w relatively inexpensive louvered building material that made it more secure, and much more stable. He was easy to work with, had good people on his team, pleasant and left the site cleaned up and much more attractive. Very much a professional about wanting to do the best work."

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.
