Customers say: True professional

"John is a pleasure to work with. His work is beautiful, and he is a great problem solver. He put the trim in our living room and bedroom and build a gorgeous dining room buffet. He is an excellent finish carpenter and dependable. He arrived when he said he would and worked diligently to get the job finished promptly. We would highly recommend him."

"Perfect. They did excellent work. Very professional and very clean as well. I don't think another carpenter could have done what needed to be done as well as Carlos did. I am extremely pleased."

"John was prompt on call back and appointment to give estimate.  He impressed us so much that we didn't  interview the other vendors we had lined up for estimates.
On time for job start-SKILLED CRAFTSMAN-attention to detail was amazing-neat-clean-respectful of our home
He's creative, takes a great deal of pride in his work and was a pleasure to work with.
His paint team, Karol & Alex have the same work ethic and skills-very professional, neat, clean and on time.
Would highly recommend BJ Trim Carpentry Inc.

"My husband and I closed on our home about a month ago. We bought an inventory home that was already completed, we did not custom build. Overall our experience with was smooth sailing. The customer service we received from he was exceptional. he was very responsive to all of our concerns and even remembered to check in with us when we closed despite being on vacation! The quality of the build I feel is great. Everything was finished out well and other than a few little items, everything is in working order. We love our new house!"

"TERRIFIC!! Obet is a brilliant, intuitive handyman. That means, unlike me, he can repair, put together, ANYTHING! He is professional, respectful, prompt, and kind. I hired a shade vendor who did not measure ANYTHING correctly. Obet put all the shades and correct brackets where they 'should' have been. He never charges enough for his incredible and high-quality hard work. He repaired metal hinges on an Andersen screen door that an overzealous property manager swung open too far and bent. Obet Falcon is a SUPER handyman because I think he can repair or build Obet Falcon is an incredibly handyman because I believe he can repair or build anything! He’s like Superman! In the past five years, I’ve encountered the best quality and most honest businessman in Naples, and that’s Obet Falcon."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.
