"They were on time, polite and easy to work with. They readily answered any questions we had and did a thorough job of cleaning our roof, gutter fascia and soffits, sidewalk, and driveway. They finished with sanding and applying two coats of driveway sealer. We would hire them again!"

"Devon did an excellent job cleaning our roof. They also did a great job cleaning our pool cage and lanai. They got all of the pine needles out of the screen and everything is sparkling clean. I would recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"I was charged a much higher price than originally quoted by the HomeAdvisor rep on the phone when I scheduled the service. The pressure washing was OK, but I do not think it was worth the amount I ended up being charged. He did a good job cleaning the screens on my lanai, but I was not aware he was going to do this, and I ended up with all the dirt from my screens (many years worth) all over everything inside my lanai, including the furniture, throw rugs and everything I had stored in there. It was a big mess to clean up, including the dirt all over the 16 feet of 9 foot sliding glass doors that lead from the lanai into the house."

"First class painters. Very conscientious, no drips, sags, etc. Would hire them again for other projects and have no hesitation recommending them to others. Excellent paint job and they clean up every night."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes. Freestanding or floating decks are exactly what the name implies—structures with their own support beams. You can build a deck yourself and place it next to a house for the illusion of a connected deck without the hassle. Or you can construct it in a separate part of your yard for a dedicated outdoor entertainment space. For the purpose of removing a freestanding deck, the steps are the same as an attached deck, but you don’t have to cut the deck away from the home.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

The best base materials for a ground-level or floating deck are typically gravel and crushed stone (also known as landscaping rocks). These options are inexpensive, provide excellent drainage, prevent weeds, and help minimize moisture buildup, which reduces shifting and rotting. For added stability and to evenly distribute the weight, you can use concrete deck blocks or pavers. While more expensive, concrete blocks and pavers offer a sturdier base than gravel or crushed stone alone.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.
